As a fan, I can’t help but appreciate the wisdom in the carpentry saying “Measure twice, cut once.” It seems this advice could also apply to sword fights (though I haven’t tested it myself). In the upcoming 2D fighter Two Strikes from Retro Reactor, every strike counts, as you only get two chances to land a hit. This intense, action-packed game is set to arrive on mobile devices thanks to Crunchyroll Game Vault, offering an enticing blend of dark, gory combat for fans of manga and anime alike.
In simpler terms, I’d often use the term “animesque,” but for “Two Strikes,” I prefer to say it has a manga-like quality. This is clearly evident with its basic black and white characters, speed lines, and other comic book effects, making it seem as if a manga has been brought to life.
Two Strikes, much like you’d guess, thrives on its challenging nature. Consider it similar to the demanding game, Hellish Quartet, where a few strong attacks can quickly knock you out, and the gameplay primarily revolves around misdirecting your opponent and skillfully evading incoming strikes. Sounds straightforward to grasp yet mastering it might prove quite the challenge, right?
Iku-zo
Taking a look at Two Strikes, I personally find it to be a significant enhancement over its previous version, One Strike. To me, One Strike seemed somewhat disorganized in terms of its visual style. Balancing rough pixel art with intricate hand-drawn artwork can sometimes be quite challenging.
Irrespective of personal views, it seems clear that Crunchyroll has been thriving lately. With the introduction of cult classics such as Corpse Party and The House in Fata Morgana on mobile devices, along with other titles imbued with an eastern aesthetic, this could potentially be a formula for triumph.
As a fan myself, I can’t help but recommend you take a peek at the visual appeal of Aestheta, an upcoming card-battling roguelike game, as studied by Will, off the AppStore. If you’re all about the look and feel, this could be right up your alley!
