Two years on and Elden Ring remains the Steam Deck’s best game

Two years on and Elden Ring remains the Steam Deck's best game

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Elden Ring on the Steam Deck is nothing short of a game-changer for me. It’s like having an entire universe of adventure tucked away in the palm of your hand!

Among my favorite gaming consoles, the Steam Deck holds a special place, yet no game embodies its charm quite like Elden Ring does compared to others.

Software from FromSoft offers an exceptional action RPG experience, adaptable to any playstyle and accessible across various settings – whether you’re commuting by bus or train, relaxing in bed, or finding a quiet spot elsewhere.

Indeed, Valve and From Software appeared to put in extra effort to ensure Elden Ring was playable on the Steam Deck since its release. Remarkably, they managed to make it available simultaneously with the game launch.

Elden Ring is amazing on Steam Deck

Just as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom transport you with their enchanting feel, filling a vast open world like Hyrule in your pocket, playing Elden Ring on Steam Deck creates a similar experience by immersing you in the grandeur of The Lands Between.

One effective aspect of Elden Ring is its flexibility, allowing players to progress at their preferred speed. Despite being deep into the initial region, Limgrave, I’m still meandering leisurely, absorbing every detail.

Absolutely, taking on tougher adversaries like bosses is definitely doable, but playing on Steam Deck has opened up a fresh perspective for me regarding the dungeons. In fact, I found that most of these dungeons have unique themes to them.

It’s an excellent moment to embark on a train journey to London, as it seems perfectly suited for leveling up your experiences when the chance arises.

What about Shadow of the Erdtree?

Initially, the release of Shadow of the Erdtree disrupted the playability on Steam Deck for the original game. However, now everything is running smoothly without any issues upon its initial launch.

I haven’t played the DLC myself, but my coworkers mention that it can operate smoothly at around 40 frames per second with just a bit of adjustment.

As an ardent admirer of Elden Ring, I can confidently affirm that the game boasts a reassuring green checkmark, guaranteeing playability. However, this doesn’t preclude the existence of subtle optimizations tailored to your preferences. After all, every player seeks a unique gaming experience!
