Over time, top-notch wrestling films have showcased actual wrestlers joining the fray. This trend continues with “Queen of the Ring“, a fresh biographical drama based on Mildred Burke, a pioneer in female wrestling who played a significant role in transforming sports entertainment from the realm of carnivals to Hollywood. In the 2025 movie release, actor Tyler Posey, portraying George William “G. Bill” Wolfe, shares his insights on collaborating with these notable figures.
I recently chatted with a former star from “Teen Wolf” about the sports biopic, discussing its focus on an underappreciated trailblazer and the talented female wrestlers portraying contemporaries. Notably, Jim Cornette plays the role of Sam Muchnick, a well-known figure in wrestling history. As expected, Posey spoke highly of everyone involved, including the iconic figure themselves.
One of my favorite aspects of the entire movie was Jim Cornette. Having his esteemed presence in the film was truly an honor. He delivered a remarkable performance, and I found myself captivated by it. If only he could act in movies forever, I would never tire of watching him. It was a genuine privilege to witness such a talented actor on screen.
For people not familiar with Cornette, he’s had a significant role in almost every major wrestling organization throughout his career. His duties have ranged from being a manager to providing commentary and even stepping into the ring himself. Given his role in training future actors-turned-wrestlers like John Cena and Dave Bautista, it’s no surprise that he eventually appeared in a movie.
However, Posey, whose father shared tales of Mildred Burke (portrayed by Emily Bett Rickards) – a figure legendary and towering as Gorgeous George – also held high praises for the female wrestlers who graced both in and out of the wrestling ring during Queen of the Ring.
When I inquired about his experiences working alongside WWE’s Naomi and AEW talent like Toni Storm, Britt Baker, and Kamille, he portrayed it as a highly productive and beneficial collaboration for all parties involved.
What truly struck me is how deeply committed they are to their craft, which became evident during our movie production. It wasn’t until then that I fully appreciated the extent of their dedication. You could say it was a grand performance, a spectacle, if you will. Until this filming, I hadn’t realized the extent of their inexperience in front of the camera. We were all learning from one another, and it was a unique experience. The entire shoot felt like a collaborative endeavor among us all. Frankly, I was simply awestruck by the opportunity to work alongside these genuine wrestling legends. It was nothing short of extraordinary.
We Need More Wrestling Movies

After Watching The Iron Claw, I Need More Wrestling Movies. Here’s Why
Besides the wrestling personalities showcased in the film, Queen of the Ring additionally stars Josh Lucas, Walton Goggins, and Martin Kove, who portray some influential figures from the wrestling world. Notably, Francesca Eastwood plays Mae Young in this production.
The movie titled “Queen of the Ring” is now available for viewing in cinemas across the country. If you’re fond of sports biographies, wrestling films, or stories about women’s strength and triumph, this production is a must-see event that you wouldn’t want to skip.
