With its intricate weave of sounds, this album showcases a creative growth that Tyler has consistently demonstrated throughout his career.
Tyler, the Creator‘s newest studio album CHROMAKOPIA has arrived.
As a gamer, I can tell you that this 14-track masterpiece I’ve been working on clocks in at nearly an hour. Some incredible talents have lent their skills to this project, including Doechii, GloRilla, Daniel Caesar, Thundercat, Willow Smith, Teezo Touchdown, Donald Glover, Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red, ScHoolboy Q and many others. This is the anticipated sequel to 2021’s “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST”, and it seems to draw inspiration from Chroma the Great, a conductor from Norton Juster’s “The Phantom Tollbooth”. Chroma is known for creating colors with his orchestra, which could be why I’ve been focusing on monochromatic colors throughout this album cycle.
In CHROMAKOPIA, Tyler continues to draw from his hip-hop background but explores broader musical territories by incorporating less common and more subtly embedded samples across the tracks. This meticulous approach to music production enhances rather than diminishes his work, a trait that aligns well with his artistic journey. It’s no wonder then, given Tyler’s career trajectory, that he’s not afraid to display his creative evolution. Unlike CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST, BASTARD exists in an entirely distinct sonic realm, and Tyler has never been one to hide his artistic progression. Remaining unapologetic and as innovative as ever, it remains to be seen if his audience will embrace this new musical journey with him.
