Uma Thurman Joins Michael C. Hall for ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

The universe surrounding the show “Dexter” is growing, as Uma Thurman has joined forces with Michael C. Hall for the upcoming series titled “Dexter: Resurrection.

Thurman is set to portray the recurring role of Charley, who serves as Leon Prater’s head of security – a billionaire known for his mysteries. Previously a Special Ops officer, Charley has held numerous top-tier private security positions before joining Prater’s team. According to her character, she is both resourceful and detail-oriented, proving herself to be an invaluable asset as Prater’s trusted deputy.

In the series titled Dexter: Resurrection, Hall portrays the title character Dexter Morgan, a serial killer, and will also serve as the narrator, much like he did in the original show. Three actors have been confirmed to be part of the cast, who have worked with Dexter before. These include David Zayas, who played Detective Angel Batista, a friend and colleague of Dexter’s; James Remar as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s late father; and Jack Alcott, who previously played Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan in Dexter: New Blood.

The revival of Dexter, titled “Dexter: Resurrection,” is being filmed in New York at present. It’s scheduled to debut this coming summer on Paramount+, with initial airings also happening on Showtime.

As a dedicated fan, I’d like to share an intriguing perspective about how the shows in the Dexter franchise interconnect, as revealed by Showrunner Clyde Phillips in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He suggested that “Dexter: Resurrection” should be viewed as the continuation, or perhaps the next chapter, of the revival series, “Dexter: New Blood,” which aired in 2021, following the conclusion of the original series, “Dexter,” which ended in 2013.

Between “New Blood” and the upcoming “Resurrection”, we find the ongoing prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin”. This show delves into the origins of Dexter Morgan, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, as it tells the story of how he evolved into the serial killer we know from the present day. The opening sequence of “Original Sin” acts as a bridge connecting “New Blood” and “Resurrection”, as it figuratively (or literally, depending on interpretation) revives Michael C. Hall’s Dexter, bringing him back to life after he was shot and presumed dead in the finale of “New Blood”.

In the original “Dexter” and its spin-off “New Blood”, Zayas can be seen; however, Remar is associated with the main series. The roles of the younger characters in “Original Sin” are taken up by James Martinez and Christian Slater.
