Unboxing the Friends and Family Satoshi Nakamoto x OTW By Vans Old Skool Reissue 36

As a seasoned gamer with an eye for both virtual and physical fashion, I must say that the latest collaboration between Satoshi Nakamoto and OTW By Vans has truly caught my attention. From humble beginnings selling custom Vans sneakers, to a full-blown collaboration with one of the most iconic footwear brands, it’s clear that Nakamoto’s craftsmanship and creativity have made waves in the fashion industry.

Originally known as Satoshi Nakamoto, the designer kickstarted his career by customizing unique Vans sneakers. His exceptional skills and an enthusiastic fanbase eventually culminated in a formal partnership with OTW By Vans, which was released at the beginning of August. As New York Fashion Week unfolds, OTW By Vans has unveiled an exclusive colorway of their collaborative Old Skool Reissue 36, available only to friends and family.

At OTW during Vans’ New York Fashion Week pop-up, a replica of the iconic Lower East Side bar Max Fish was unveiled, showcasing the friends-and-family sneakers. These shoes share the same overall design as their regular retail versions but offer an alternative color scheme instead of the usual colorblocking. The uppers sport a deep burgundy canvas with black suede accents, Jazz Stripes, and white contrast stitching. Notable details include Nakamoto’s signature bejeweled embellishments, a checkerboard tongue, text on the laces, and an aged midsole that hints at the Old Skool’s early days. The box for these sneakers also features vintage-inspired details and Nakamoto’s name etched onto the lid.

Even if you don’t have a high-level connection at OTW By Vans to secure a pair for personal use, you can still take a close look at them by watching the unboxing video provided above.
