UNIQLO To Reissue Jil Sander, Engineered Garments and LEMAIRE Collaborations For 40th Anniversary

As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for fashion and a soft spot for nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon learning about UNIQLO’s 40th anniversary reissue of their most iconic collaborations. Having grown up in the era where classic American apparel retailers like Gap were all the rage, it’s heartening to see a brand like UNIQLO honoring its roots by revisiting these collaborative masterpieces.

In honor of UNIQLO’s 40-year milestone, this renowned Japanese clothing store plans to re-launch a selection of its best-selling items from previous partnerships, such as Engineered Garments, LEMAIRE, and Jil Sander.

First introduced back in 2015, the collaborative capsule between UNIQLO U creative director Christopher Lemaire (Lemaire) and the brand will make its return this time around, featuring lambswool sweaters and sleeveless vests. Meanwhile, Engineered Garment’s sought-after fleece jackets and pullovers will be available in both unisex adult and children’s sizes. Lastly, Jil Sander’s +J collection, initially launched in 2009, is set to return with broadcloth dress shirts, two types of down jackets, and a cotton shirt jacket.

You’ll find a consistent theme of enduring elegance and practical design woven through the work of UNIQLO’s collaborators. The minimalist approach that defines UNIQLO is true to its origins, stemming from founder Tadashi Yanai who was inspired by iconic American clothing retailers such as the Gap. Originally named “Unique Clothing Warehouse,” the brand opened its first store in Hiroshima in 1984 and started expanding into international markets in the early 2000s.

These items will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, starting in-store in Japan on December 1st (for EG and LEMAIRE collections), as well as January 1st (+J). To find the UNIQLO stores where you can purchase these items, click here for a list of participating locations.
