Universal Music Group and Music Health Alliance Launch Music Industry Mental Health Fund

On Thursday morning, Universal Music Group and the non-profit organization Music Health Alliance unveiled a fresh mental health program tailored for the music industry.

The Music Industry Mental Health Fund aims to offer extensive, top-notch outpatient mental health services to professionals across the country within the music industry, as stated in a recent announcement. Susan Mazo, UMG’s chief impact officer, explained in a statement that they have been focusing on creating an efficient system for accessing mental health resources, financing, and care management plans.

The fund provides tailored suggestions for mental health specialists to musicians, along with financial aid for treatment expenses and recommendations for further resources, should they be required, to ensure ongoing care.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m proud to share that we’ve chosen to deepen our alliance with Tatum [Hauck Allsep] and the Music Health Alliance. This move feels organic because it allows us to keep providing top-notch mental health care for everyone in our gaming community, ensuring their wellbeing remains a priority.

Music Health Alliance has all the essential resources required to tackle the entire range of mental health issues affecting professionals within the music industry. This encompasses financial aid, an ongoing care plan for both emotional and physical health, as well as additional services such as psychiatric guidance, organization of intensive outpatient and inpatient programs, and data collection. According to its founder and CEO Tatum Hauck Allsep, Music Health Alliance takes a comprehensive approach to ensure the long-term health, welfare, and longevity of the music industry workforce.

Under Universal Music Group (UMG), artists can take advantage of a special program designed to support them. The creators of this fund aim to help everyone involved in the music industry, not just UMG artists. In fact, any past or present professionals within the music sector are eligible for these services.

As a music enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the Music Industry Mental Health Fund, an extension of UMG’s four-year collaboration with MHA. This partnership initially provides a “personal health assistant” for clients. Remarkably, it has already assisted over 900 individuals and saved them a staggering $12.5 million in healthcare expenses, as per the latest announcement!

MHA provides a variety of healthcare advocacy services, encompassing dental care options, group health services, personalized guidance in healthcare matters, as well as health insurance for individuals and families. Additionally, they offer resources for mental health, senior care support, and vision care.
