Universal Music Group to Cancel Its Grammy Events; Will Redirect Resources to Wildfire Relief

As an avid music lover, I’m thrilled to share that Universal Music Group, home to stars like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar, has decided to forgo their Grammy-related events this year. Instead, they’re channeling those resources towards aiding wildfire relief efforts. This compassionate move shows their commitment not just to music, but also to the communities that have been impacted by these devastating fires.

Today, we’ve decided to cancel all our Grammy-linked activities, such as the Artist Showcase and Post-Grammy Gala, and instead, will channel those resources towards aiding those impacted by the wildfires. We express our heartfelt appreciation to the brave first responders and emergency workers who are tirelessly working to help in these difficult times.

As a music enthusiast, I’m thrilled to be associated with Universal Music Group (UMG), the powerful umbrella that houses iconic labels like Republic, Interscope, Island, Def Jam, Capitol, and many others. Under this roof, artists as diverse and talented as Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Drake, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Doechii, Justin Bieber, Stevie Wonder, and countless others, call it home. It’s a privilege to be part of such a rich musical legacy.

Every year, UMG hosts a pre-Grammy event to introduce new artists under their label and showcase their top performing acts, many of whom are often Grammy nominees. Additionally, they unveil trailers for movies and documentaries they’ve produced during this brunch gathering.

Los Angeles holds a special place for countless individuals. Our dedication lies in assisting and sustaining the music community, including our artists, staff, and Angelenos, during this distressing period,” the statement from the label further expressed.

Today, UMG made their announcement coinciding with the Grammys’ statement that they will proceed with their awards ceremony on February 2nd in Los Angeles. Notably, the telecast aims to gather funds for wildfire relief efforts. The event is set to be live-broadcasted on CBS from the Crypto.com Arena.
