As a dedicated horror enthusiast with years of chilling experiences under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for Universal Horror Unleashed! The prospect of four haunted houses based on iconic intellectual properties like Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Universal Monsters, and Scarecrow: The Reaping is enough to send shivers down my spine.
NBCUniversal’s theme park division, Universal Destinations and Experiences, is unveiling details about their planned year-round horror attraction in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Our venture will be named “Universal Horror Unveiled,” showcasing four spooky mansions inspired by popular franchises: “The Exorcist: Faith’s Trial” (from Blumhouse), “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Universal Monsters,” and “Scarecrow: The Harvest.
Horror Unleashed offers more than just haunted houses; it includes themed outdoor spaces for an all-encompassing horror experience, complete with thematically appropriate food, beverages, souvenirs, and special events tailored to the season.
Universal is making a significant leap with its live experiences brand, venturing beyond theme parks into uncharted territories with innovative new ideas, through a key investment.
Every year, both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando run Halloween Horror Nights, building numerous terrifying mazes for visitors to explore. This event has turned into a lucrative venture for the company, as competitors like Disney, Six Flags, and others are also aiming to grab a piece of the seasonal profits.
However, unlike other horrors, Horror Unleashed stands out as a unique entity. Despite being smaller in scope and situated away from an amusement park, its strategic placement as the flagship tenant of AREA15’s expansion in tourist-friendly Las Vegas makes it a sound investment. Moreover, the possibility of building permanent haunted attractions offers potential for more engaging experiences compared to the seasonal ones typically found in parks.
Page Thompson, president of new ventures at UDX, stated that Universal’s long-standing legacy in the horror genre sparked our ambition to establish a year-round horror attraction as an addition to the exciting entertainment options available in Las Vegas. We can’t wait for our talented Creative and Entertainment teams to breathe life into these terrifying experiences, which are set to debut in 2025.
Next year, I’m excited to share that I’ll be immersing myself in a fresh, kid-friendly gaming world! Universal is building the Universal Kids Resort right here in the Dallas metro area. This place will be jam-packed with attractions inspired by their incredible intellectual properties. Can’t wait to explore it all!
