Due to the destructive wildfires in Los Angeles, Universal Studios Hollywood will be compelled to close its doors on Wednesday.
The NBCUniversal-owned theme park intends to reopen Thursday, if weather conditions allow.
Due to severe wind and fire hazards, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will remain closed today. We’re closely monitoring the situation and plan to reopen tomorrow. Our primary concern is always the well-being of both our staff and visitors.
The prolonged closures of Universal Hollywood studios are uncommon events, with the longest closure taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. However, fires pose an ongoing risk in southern California. At this moment, Disneyland in Anaheim remains unaffected by these fires.
In Florida’s Universal and Disney parks, closures due to hurricanes are a more frequent occurrence.
An unexpected gusty wind caused the fires in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday, leading to the evacuation of many thousands of residents. Regrettably, one of the structures that were damaged was the Palisades Charter High School.
As a gamer, I find myself in a similar situation to some popular celebrities like Mark Hamill and Eugene Levy – we’ve had to pack up our belongings and leave our homes behind. It’s a surreal experience, but safety is priority.
This week’s city events, which included the premieres of “Unstoppable” starring Jennifer Lopez (Amazon MGM Studios), “Wolf Man” featuring Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott (Universal), “Better Man” from Paramount Pictures, as well as screenings for “Emilia Peréz” on Netflix and “I’m Still Here” by Sony Pictures Classics, had to be canceled due to the fires.
