Universal Studios Hollywood’s Best Mega Movie Summer 2025 Photo Ops are a Must For Travelers

Summer has officially arrived, which signals the kickoff of Universal Studios Hollywood’s all-new seasonal extravaganza – Universal Mega Movie Summer – is now in full swing!

The Mega Movie Summer is a component of your standard entrance pass and offers a variety of themed attractions, photo opportunities, and merchandise and food for purchase, available every day until Sunday, August 10, 2025. This event honors the remarkable cinematic history of Universal Pictures, showcasing some of its most iconic properties across the park throughout the season.

Timeless classics, such as “Jaws” turning 50 and “Back to the Future” marking its 40th anniversary, will receive special recognition. Meanwhile, fresh sensations like “Wicked,” “Jurassic World Rebirth,” and “How to Train Your Dragon” are also taking center stage.

Recently, an insider from NBC took a tour around the Mega Movie Summer, and we’ve prepared a user-friendly guide to help you locate all the unique photo spots scattered across the park. This way, you won’t overlook any of them during your visit.

Upper Lot: How to Train Your Dragon, Back to the Future, Wicked and Jaws

Upon arriving at Universal Studios Hollywood, you’ll immediately walk down the main street that guides you towards the Upper Lot district. On your left, right before the Universal Store, there’s a queue for a photo opportunity with the Wicked characters – Elphaba or Glinda. You can snap your own photos with either of these witches and chat about ideal wand usage to your contentment.

For Mega Movie Summer, Hollywood & Dine Cafe has been transformed into Amityville Cafe to honor the 50th anniversary of Jaws on June 20, 2025. By turning right off the main street and following the path towards the WaterWorld Stunt Show queue, you’ll find yourself at the special Jaws photo spot, where the refurbished hanging shark and a fresh dock backdrop have been installed. At different times of the day, you might encounter two popular characters from Amityville: Captain Quint and Chief Brody.

They would be more than willing to discuss the giant shark causing havoc among locals and tourists this summer, so do brush up on your shark knowledge before chatting with them.

In the Universal Plaza region, there’s a full-sized, 730-pound replica of the dragon, Toothless the Night Fury, from Universal Pictures’ latest live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon. Remember, you can’t hop on Toothless for a ride, but you can capture an amazing memory with a photo featuring your new friend Hiccup.

To your left from Universal Plaza, you’ll find Einstein the dog, the real star of the “Back to the Future” movie! Plus, you might get a chance to encounter Doc Brown and/or Marty McFly at this “Back to the Future” photo opportunity throughout the day. If you fancy some “Back to the Future” themed food and souvenirs, simply step into Mel’s Diner for their new summer menu items and collectibles.

Fans of magical beasts, don’t miss out on visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer as three special guests from the Universal Fan Fest Night event are extending their stay! Inside Hogsmeade, you can encounter a Niffler, a Baby Dragon, and an elegant Occamy. Get your cameras ready for some unique photo opportunities with these enchanting creatures and their handlers. Remember to be kind and considerate when interacting with them as magical creatures have delicate ears that are easily startled!

Lower Lot: Jurassic World Rebirth

All dinosaurs are situated in the Lower District, accessible either by elevator or the transportation system leading to the Jurassic World zone. At the foot of the escalators, there’s an impressive Spinosaurus photo opportunity waiting for you. Here, you can strike a pose as if you’re about to become the dinosaur’s lunch, just like in the latest movie, Jurassic World: Rebirth!

Near Jurassic World: The Ride, you’ll come across the Raptor Encounter paddock. Here, Blue and other trained Velociraptors will make appearances throughout the day to interact with visitors – they won’t eat them, don’t worry! Also, keep an eye out for a fresh face and her caretaker in the area. This is Dolores, the young Aquilops from Jurassic World Rebirth. She’s transported in a backpack for comfort and safety, but she has a sweet tooth for licorice if you want to win her favor!
