Universal Studios Unveils Plans for Its First-Ever Theme Park and Resort in the UK

Universal Studios is planning to increase its number of theme parks and resort destinations by adding a new location in the United Kingdom, which will be their initial theme park venture in that country.

The upcoming Universal Studios UK, set to debut in 2031, will be situated south of Bedford, England. On a 476-acre plot of land acquired by Comcast in 2024, the development will incorporate the signature style of immersive and exhilarating rides from Universal, as well as various themed lands, accommodations, dining venues, retail outlets, and an entertainment complex. The hotel is anticipated to offer approximately 500 rooms. In a statement, Mike Cavanagh, President of Comcast Corporation, expressed, “This marks a unique and significant milestone for our company as we propel the expansion of our theme park business, aiming to captivate audiences worldwide. The extraordinary storytelling and technological innovation that the talented team at Universal Destinations & Experiences creates aligns perfectly with the creative arts and tourism sectors in Britain.

In the near future, we’ll put forth a suggestion for a project to the U.K. administration. Assuming everything proceeds smoothly, Universal aims to start building in 2026. Mark Woodbury, the head of Universal Destinations & Experiences, expressed his enthusiasm about this move, stating, “Extending the Universal brand into the United Kingdom represents another thrilling stride towards future expansion. Venturing into Europe offers us a substantial chance to connect with new admirers and share the extraordinary adventures our team crafts.

Stay tuned for more information.
