If you prefer to settle disputes with raw power up close, fear not! There are plenty of ways to craft a warrior character, and even those without magic can pack a punch.
As a fervent admirer of the Avowed’s combat style, I’d like to share my take on a physical fighter build that leans heavily on the stun mechanic for crowd control and colossal burst damage. This guide will walk you through the essential items and skills for this build, offering some insights into its unique workings. Enjoy mastering this powerful setup!
Avowed: Fighter Skill Build
This construction primarily concentrates on close-quarters fighting. By giving up ranged weapons and magic, we gain an almost unbeatable state with Temporary Health and health restoration, in addition to our standard blocking and dodging skills. Our damage output remains robust, and with persistent gear upgrades in the game Avowed, this build can help you excel, even on the toughest difficulty level.

Try to prioritize upgrading the Barbaric Shout ability to level 3 in Avowed at your earliest convenience. This skill is vital for survivability and is often considered the best fighter skill within the game. Once activated, you’ll notice that your attacks won’t be deflected by stronger enemies, and they’ll inflict increased Stun damage. Additionally, you’ll receive a temporary health boost equivalent to 100% of your maximum HP for 25 seconds. Combine this with Constant Recover Rank 3, and you can effectively restore your entire health bar while being safeguarded by the Temporary Health shield.
The remaining abilities mentioned earlier are geared towards enhancing your DPS and overall comfort. Feel free to choose any melee weapon you prefer with this setup, but for optimal results, consider selecting one that inflicts substantial Stun damage. This will allow you to make the most of Barbaric Shout effectively.

As a dedicated gamer, I’d strongly suggest utilizing the Barbaric Shout enhancement when battling tough opponents or engaging in games at the maximum difficulty level. This unique feature automatically triggers the Barbaric Shout whenever you sustain 30% of your total health as damage. Unlike traditional abilities, using this won’t put Barbaric Shout on cooldown, allowing for repeated usage once the effect from your armor set fades away. The primary reason we advise only employing it on higher difficulties is that enemies seldom inflict 30% of your health in damage during gameplay on easier settings, unless they significantly outmatch you in strength.
Use for more damage reduction or for extra health regeneration.
Gloves are excellent for offensive play, but if you’re struggling to keep your health and stamina up, opt for Steel Garotte Gauntlets or similar armor pieces instead. As for Boots, consider acquiring Arcanist’s Boots in Avowed for the added healing and movement speed benefits.
Accessories
For your character build, items that boost Might, Constitution, and Resolve are beneficial, however, when possible, switch them out with the specified accessories. The reason being, the Barbaric Shout’s barrier is particularly useful for this setup, and it complements well with other abilities. The ring enhancing damage absorption is excellent, but you can opt for a different ring if preferred.
Weapons
In my gaming experience, you’re free to pick any weapons that suit your playstyle best. However, given the stun-focused nature of this character build, axes and maces are advisable. Acquiring good equipment early can be a bit challenging though. You can grab an axe in Dawnshore by heading towards the Watcher’s Mirror POI, which is located east of Paradis. As for Unflinching Duty, it can be obtained fairly early in the game during your encounter with the Dreamthrall Bear, which is part of the main questline.
In the Emerald Stair’s second region, you’ll come across a two-handed sword. This can be found in a cove situated along the southern coast near Fior mes Iverno. To obtain it, approach the skeleton seated on the throne on the beach. Afterward, vanquish his minions to claim the sword as your own.
Best Companions
This construction is entirely independent, allowing you to take any of the companions from Avowed alongside you. While it’s optional, we suggest bringing Kai due to his exceptional ability to withstand enemy attacks and manage crowds at the same time. He offers numerous chances for you to inflict damage without incurring any harm yourself.
Giatta is an excellent ally in this setup too. She offers both healing and damage mitigation, aspects that will be crucial in battle. Furthermore, she’s capable of activating Essence Generators, which means you won’t have to worry about using grenades or switching to a spellbook for that task.
