In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, I found myself engrossed in a multitude of intriguing side quests scattered across Cyrodiil. One of the initial optional missions I stumbled upon was called ‘Go Fish’. This task required me, as a player, to gather rare scales from Rumare Slaughterfish for an old fisherman. And let me tell you, there’s a one-of-a-kind, enchanted prize at the end that made all the effort worthwhile!
In the game ‘Oblivion Remastered’, catching all 12 Rumare Slaughterfish for the mission named ‘Go Fish’ might pose a challenge to some gamers. Fortunately, these fish are not hard to find as they aren’t too distant from where the quest begins. However, some players may find themselves struggling against these Slaughterfish, particularly at lower levels. But with a suitable strategy, they can be successfully caught!
How to Complete Go Fish in Oblivion Remastered
The adventure in the Go Fish quest initiates at the quaint village of Weye, nestled to the west of the Imperial City. This humble abode is situated right beside the bridge, making it a common crossing point for most players as they head towards Weynon Priory at the commencement of the game.
In a friendly scenario, a fellow named Aelwin, who is a fisherman, seeks the player’s assistance, initiating the Go Fish mission. However, if players opt to chuckle at Aelwin when they initially encounter him, they will be unable to proceed with the quest as Aelwin becomes upset and refuses to engage with them further.

Aelwin requires help from fellow players to gather approximately a dozen scales from Rumare Slaughterfish. These unique fish can only be discovered in the waters surrounding Weye, and the quest indicators will lead players directly to them. Moreover, the Detect Life spell can prove useful in identifying the Rumare Slaughterfish amidst the murky depths.
As a thrill-seeking adventurer, beware that Rumare Slaughterfish are lethal for beginners, so it’s wise to gather healing potions and essential gear before embarking on your underwater expedition in pursuit of them. Fortunately, this quest has no time constraints, allowing you ample opportunity to recover when needed and take your time hunting the entire dozen. Once the scales have been gathered, merely return to Aelwin to wrap up the quest. The “Jewel of the Rumare,” an extraordinary enchanted ring, is the prize for successfully completing Go Fish.

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered when exploring Cyrodiil, players will come across one of numerous side missions. However, longer side quest chains can also be found scattered across the province. The Dark Brotherhood presents opportunities for bloodthirsty adventurers, and there are several guilds to join within its borders.
