In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the hunt for the Mad Stonemason’s hoard leads gamers to dilapidated structures close to Trosky Castle. This discovery is quite rewarding for players still navigating the game’s early stages, who may be finding it tough to accumulate enough Groschen for equipment upgrades, supplies purchases, or survival in medieval Bohemia’s unforgiving environment. Unlike other treasures in the game, there are no official maps or clear quest markers guiding players to this secret cache.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to locate the Mad Stonemason’s hidden fortune in KCD2, offering a detailed roadmap and delving into the lore connected with it. Whether your goal is a financial jumpstart or unearthing all the game’s hidden gems, pursuing the Mad Stonemason’s treasure is definitely worth the chase!
How to Find the Mad Stonemason in KCD2
Adventurers are likely to stumble upon their first clues of the hidden treasure as they roam Trosky Castle. Just beyond the castle’s main entrance, close to an archery range, you’ll meet a character named Bohumir honing his archery skills. Initiating a chat with Bohumir could initiate your treasure hunt quest. To uncover further details, make sure to choose the appropriate dialogue options in the conversation.
- “This used to be a quarry?”
- “What loony?”
Bohumir shares that the Quirky Stonecraftsman often explores the region, seeking a concealed trove of coins rumored to be owned by a deceased coworker. Despite Bohumir regarding him as merely a local curiosity, he unknowingly offers helpful hints that guide players towards the correct path.
Where is the Mad Stonemason?
Hey there, fellow game enthusiasts! If you’re up for a challenge, head south from the archery range and pay a visit to the enigmatic Mad Stonemason. Mad Stonemason’s Treasure Location in KCD2

Discovering the hidden treasure involves some climbing and venturing. Beyond the three archery targets, there’s a winding path on the cliffside, signaled by two aged wooden ladders. Ascending these ladders leads players up the rugged slope of the hill, where they’ll find a trail that circles the cliff.
At the beginning, players should go to their left and traverse a temporary bridge constructed from a fallen tree trunk. On the opposite side, they’ll come across an intriguing scene: a solitary watermelon perched on the ledge of a plank. This isn’t just an unusual landmark; it serves as a clue. Behind the watermelon, players will discover a grouping of stones and trees. As they get closer, a prompt titled “Explore the stones” will appear. Clicking on this will reveal the Mad Stonemason’s hoard: a substantial collection of 549 Groschen. This secret fortune can be claimed right away, and players are free to decide how to use it. There are numerous merchants scattered throughout Trosky who accept coins as payment.
After a short span of time, the hidden stash refreshes, giving players the opportunity to revisit and collect another reward should they choose to do so.
In addition to their choices, players can choose to return the coins to the Kind-Hearted Stonemason if they wish to be generous. But there are no significant repercussions, ethical or otherwise, for choosing to keep the loot. In such a harsh world as Bohemia in KCD2, an extra Groschen can make a considerable difference.
