As a fan who has been following this show since its debut, it’s bittersweet to see these familiar faces moving on from the world of Vanderpump Rules. The cast members have become like old friends over the years, and watching them grow, make mistakes, and eventually find their way in life has been an incredible journey.
It’s worth mentioning that the popular series, Vanderpump Rules, has been confirmed for a comeback following its 11-season stint on Bravo. Needless to say, opinions about this revival are varied among fans.
If you’re among those who have followed the hit reality show starring Lisa Vanderpump’s LA restaurant staff turned celebrities over the past decade, your social media timeline probably contains a mix of nostalgic, humorous, and emotional posts responding to the news that the series will be revamped with a fresh cast when it airs its twelfth season. The show is being produced by Evolution Media.
Among these messages, there are heartfelt tributes posted by the departing cast members: Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, James Kennedy, and Tom Sandoval.
As I embark on a new chapter, I reflect on the incredible journey we’ve shared through Vanderpump Rules. Little did I know, while filming the pilot, this series would blossom into something so remarkable and endure for as long as it has.
Shay, Maloney, and Sandoval, along with Schwartz and Madix, were part of the initial cast when “Vanderpump Rules,” a spin-off from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” debuted in 2013. Kennedy became part of the group during season two, followed by Kent shortly after. Over the years, there have been many SUR employees, but this original group remained the central cast until the arrival of “Scandoval” – a cheating scandal that catapulted the show to one of Bravo’s top-performing series and eventually led to the current cast members leaving.
After a highly contentious season 11 reunion, during which the revelation of Sandoval’s affair with former cast member Rachel Leviss (dubbed “Scandoval”) caused a rift among the group and betrayed his long-time partner Madix, Bravo decided to put the show on hold. Upon resuming, the series could take various paths, as Alex Baskin, the executive producer and showrunner, hinted to The Hollywood Reporter. At the time of the reunion, he suggested that the core group might return with some new additions, acknowledging the potential for the cast to evolve. “There’s still a strong foundation there,” Baskin said. “So I could definitely see some version of the main cast returning, along with some fresh faces. I believe there’s still much more to explore, and I’m not entirely sure what form that will take.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that the series would resume with an entirely fresh cast. Some of the departing actors – Kent, Schwartz, Shay, and her husband Brock Davies – are set to appear in the upcoming season of the “Vanderpump Rules” spinoff, “The Valley”. However, fans should prepare for a completely revamped version of the show as previously known; the identities of the new cast members will be disclosed at a later time, and production is slated to begin next year.
Over the past 12 years, filming has been an extraordinary journey filled with laughter, tears, and everything in between, according to Vanderpump, our boss and star. They expressed their gratitude towards everyone who shared their lives with us, expressing how much they love each one of us. Following their final episode, the cast bid farewell on their individual social media platforms, expressing gratitude towards fans for their long-term support. Amidst this, Sandoval and Schwartz, who recently closed their LA bar Schwartz & Sandy’s, acknowledged the backlash from the ‘Scandoval’ drama as one of the contributing factors to its closure. They posted emotional tributes to their bar and Vanderpump Rules on their Instagram Stories. Schwartz also shared a touching fan-made video set to the Friends theme song, remarking, “The last 12 years playing in my mind.” Maloney, too, expressed her feelings on her Stories, saying, “A mix of emotions. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you for the memories and love over the past 11 years.
Shay, Kent, Madix, and Kennedy expressed heartfelt farewells in their posts (detailed below). Their co-stars, famous admirers, and Bravo head Andy Cohen joined the conversation in the comments section. Cohen wrote on his account, “These were the best days of our lives…,” reflecting on the popular theme song and catchy tune, Memoir’s “Raise Your Glass.” Madix concluded her post by saying, “I don’t know if these were the best days of our lives, but they were certainly unique and memorable.
