2024 saw controversy surrounding Pooja Entertainment, a well-known production company established by Vashu Bhagnani, as it engaged in a court battle with streaming titan Netflix. The company claimed that Netflix had deceived them and failed to pay their outstanding debts totaling approximately Rs 47.37 crores. However, recent reports indicate that the two parties have resolved their disagreement, with Netflix reportedly paying Pooja Entertainment over Rs. 20 crores.
Fresh news about the ongoing legal dispute between Pooja Entertainment and Netflix: According to a reliable tip-off to Bollywood Hungama, both sides have reached an agreement in their settlement. It’s been said that Netflix has handed over a considerable sum of money to the Bhagnanis to resolve this issue permanently. The precise amount is known only to top executives; however, it’s rumored to be more than 200 million Indian rupees.
According to the source, both Netflix and the duo Vashu Bhagnani-Jackky Bhagnani have chosen to begin anew, aiming for a fruitful, enduring partnership together.
In 2024, the Bhagnanis lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police over Netflix. They asserted that the streaming platform had not paid them what was owed for the rights to stream their three movies, Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Hero No. 1.
In my line of work as a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “At the given moment, I found myself in a situation where Senior Inspector Ravindra Avhad informed me, on behalf of Hindustan Times, that Netflix allegedly owes a substantial sum of around 47.37 crores to Mr. Vashu Bhagnani. However, Netflix appears to be non-compliant with this claim. To add to the issue, two legal summonses were sent to them, but they failed to respond, neither showing up nor replying to the letter we had sent.
In response to these allegations, Netflix asserts they are entirely baseless and in fact, it’s Pooja Entertainment (originally known as Puja Films, founded by Vashu Bhagnani) that owes Netflix money instead.
After a short while, Jackky Bhagnani, an actor, film producer, and entrepreneur, stepped in to manage the company alongside his sister Deepshikha Deshmukh. This production house has financed numerous successful films such as Coolie No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, and most recently, Mere Husband Ki Biwi.
