Vedaa actor John Abraham opens up on actors endorsing paan masala; 'You are selling death'

As an ardent fan of John Abraham, I admire his unwavering commitment to health and integrity. His stance against endorsing harmful products like paan masala is not just commendable, but truly inspiring. In an industry where it seems everyone is selling something, John stands out as a beacon of honesty and principle.

As a lifestyle advisor, I admire John Abraham’s commitment to fitness and maintaining a healthy physique. With his upcoming film Vedaa on the horizon, he recently shared some insightful thoughts about actors endorsing paan masala brands. In his own words, he cherishes his fellow actors but would never compromise people’s wellbeing by advertising such products.

On The Ranveer Show podcast, John Abraham addressed a topic about individuals discussing fitness, before mentioning his endorsement for paan masala later in the conversation. The actor expressed his affection for all his fellow actors, emphasizing that while he respects them all, he wanted to clarify that he was speaking about himself in this context.

He stated, “I won’t endorse something as grave as death because I hold strong principles. Have you heard that the annual revenue of the paan-masala industry amounts to approximately 45,000 crores? This indicates government support and thus its legality, but that doesn’t change my view.” He continued by expressing his bewilderment towards actors who argue they are peddling ‘elaichi’ instead of tobacco. “You’re essentially selling death,” he asserted, “How can you reconcile with that?”

The actor expressed that he finds it challenging to coexist with two versions of himself in reality. He emphasized the importance of walking the talk, stating that he wouldn’t follow in the footsteps of other actors who advocate for healthy living yet endorse tobacco products.

He mentioned that by living truthfully and consistently aligning his actions with his words, he becomes an example to follow. Additionally, he pointed out that if he portrays a false image in public and acts differently in private, people will notice this discrepancy.

Regarding Vedaa, John couldn’t hide his enthusiasm, as he declared, “I can’t wait to be involved in such an exceptional movie.” Furthermore, he mentioned that the narrative carries a message that will strike a chord with viewers, encouraging them to take a stance for what is right.

Currently, Nikkhil Advani is directing a film titled Vedaa. This marks his reunion with John Abraham following their successful collaboration on Batla House. The cast for this production also includes Sharvari, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mahadev Singh Lakhawat, Kapil Nirmal, and others.

The film titled “Vedaa” will be released on 15th August, and it has been jointly produced by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment.
