Venice Days Lineup Puts Spotlight on Women’s Stories

As a dedicated gamer and avid film enthusiast, I’ve always kept my eyes peeled for unique and thought-provoking cinematic experiences. The Venice Days lineup for 2024 has certainly piqued my interest with its intriguing theme of creatures teetering on the edge of an abyss.

The Giornate Degli Autori, simply known as Venice Days, has unveiled its 2024 lineup.

I’ve attended numerous events throughout my career, but none have piqued my curiosity quite like this one. The independent event, held parallel to the prestigious Venice Film Festival, promises a unique exploration of a theme that resonates deeply with me – creatures teetering on the edge, suspended between two worlds.

As a fan, I’d put it this way: I’m excited to see two intriguing films in competition. One is “Taxi Monamour” by Italian director Ciro De Caro, which tells the story of two determined women who get lost but refuse to give up on living their way. Another one is “Alpha” by Dutch filmmaker Jan-Willem Van Ewijk, a moving tale about a complex father-son relationship set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps.

Marie Losier, a French filmmaker, explores her long-standing friendship with feminist singer and performer Peaches in the film “Peaches Goes Bananas.” This project was filmed over a span of 17 years. In contrast, Shahab Fotouhi’s directorial debut, titled “Boomerang,” offers a sociological perspective on contemporary relationships in Tehran.

The final movie is “Basileia” by Isabella Torre, an Italian production about treasure hunters and the hidden spots they use to conceal their riches, aided by mystical nymphs.
