As a long-time admirer of Kelly Marcel’s exceptional storytelling and her unique ability to breathe life into complex characters, I am absolutely thrilled to see her stepping into the director’s chair for Venom: The Last Dance. Her impressive resume, which includes screenwriting masterpieces like Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey, has prepared her exceptionally well for this role.
Makes her directorial debut this month with “Venom: The Last Dance,” and there’s been talk that she might be considered to lead the upcoming “James Bond” film. In an interview with THR, Marcel discusses whether these rumors are true and shares some potential clues about 007 she may have hidden in the recent “Venom” release.
(Laughs.) It’s quite an honorable mention to find myself on such a distinguished list. I was taken aback, as there hasn’t been a female director for Bond yet. To even be in the same sentence with those exceptional directors is truly humbling. I feel grateful for this recognition. [Writer’s Note: The rumored list includes Marcel, Edward Berger, David Michod, Yann Demange and Bart Layton.]
Absolutely, Tom Hardy, who played Venom, has been widely admired as a potential fit for the role of James Bond. Although we’re still waiting for an official decision on who will portray the famous secret agent, in Venom 3, Hardy exudes a crowd-pleasing, Bond-esque charm when he dons a tuxedo. Could Marcel be dropping a hint?
(Chuckles.) You know, there’s been whispers about him taking on the role of James Bond, so perhaps that was a sneak peek at what Tom Hardy as James Bond could be like.
Venom Star Tom Hardy Has Long Been a James Bond Favorite
For some time, Tom Hardy has been considered one of the top choices by betting odds to play James Bond. Although it’s regrettable that he might not get the chance to carry a license to kill, fans still have reasons to be hopeful. Other notable candidates include Aaron Taylor-Johnson from “Kraven the Hunter” and “Bullet Train”, Paul Mescal from “Gladiator 2”, and Damson Idris from “Snowfall”. However, recent data places Henry Cavill, known for his roles in “Man of Steel” and “The Witcher”, at the top of the list. This makes him a strong candidate as he currently leads in Google searches, article readership, and Reddit discussions regarding 31 possible actors.
It appears that Eon Productions is currently interviewing prospective directors for the upcoming reboot. Some of the names being considered include Edward Berger, who won an Academy Award for “All Quiet on the Western Front”, David Michôd known for films like “Animal Kingdom” and “The Rover”, Bart Layton, famous for “The Imposter” and “American Animals”, as well as Yann Demange, recognized for his work on “’71” and “Top Boy”. Kelly Marcel is also being considered.
Under the guidance of director Kelly Marcel, the movie titled Venom: The Last Dance features Tom Hardy portraying the dual role of Eddie Brock and Venom. This action-packed adventure also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham. In this story, Eddie and his alter ego, Venom, are persistently hunted by enemies from every direction as they attempt to evade danger.
In “Venom: The Last Dance,” Tom Hardy reappears as Venom, one of Marvel’s most intriguing characters, for the concluding chapter of the trilogy. Throughout the film, Eddie and Venom find themselves in a precarious situation, pursued by both their worlds, with no escape in sight. Ultimately, they are compelled to make a heart-wrenching choice that marks the end of Venom and Eddie’s partnership, symbolized as their last dance.
