The unauthorized use of characters and dialogues from Stree, a film backed by Maddock Films, is not only unprofessional but also lacks originality.
On October 11, 2024, the comedy movie “Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” premiered in theaters. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri as the main characters, this film had a box office clash with Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt. However, just a day after its release, the director of “Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,” Raaj Shaandilyaa, issued an apology for using certain characters and dialogues from the movie Stree without permission. He stated that his team is actively removing any content in their film that infringes on copyright.
Raaj Shaandilyaa posted a long message on X to express regret for incorporating elements from the movie “Stree” in the video featuring Vicky and Vidya. The director issued an apology for using the character and dialogue without permission from the creators of Stree, which is produced by Maddock Films.
Shaandilyaa expressed sincere remorse for any damage done to Maddock Films due to the infringement.
“We’re acting swiftly to correct this problem, quickly eliminating any material in our movie that resembles characters or dialogue from Maddock Films’ “Stree”. We aim to complete this process as soon as possible.
The director of Vicky and Vidya’s upcoming video confirmed they will finish the project by October 15th, 2024 (Tuesday), and made a promise to prevent any future instances of unauthorized use.
In addition to discussing “The Dream Girl,” the director clarified that “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” has no connection to Maddock Films, its “Stree” series, or any of its characters.

This is to note that Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video featured a blink-and-miss appearance of a woman running in a red saree in a graveyard. The scene features the leads, Rajkummar and Triptii looking at the back while being scared at the site. The sequence was kept at the end of its trailer.
Additionally, the character portrayed by Rajkummar Rao in “Vicky Aur Vidya” is called “Vicky”. Interestingly, this was also his character’s name in the film “Stree”.
On August 15, 2024, the follow-up to the 2018 movie Stree titled Stree 2 hit the screens. This horror-comedy was directed by Amar Kaushik and marks the fourth film in the Maddock Supernatural Universe.
