Although we know there will be a sequel, the writers hinted at the potential for Santa to have a companion in any predicament he finds himself in. It appears that Harbour might be reuniting with someone from his breakout series, “Stranger Things”.
I had the privilege of discussing my latest venture, working on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, with ComicBook. The anticipation surrounding our work in the videogame adaptation franchise is palpable, yet I’m equally dedicated to other upcoming projects. Among them is indeed the rumored sequel to Violent Night.
During their discussion about potential developments in “Violent Night 2“, they also touched upon the intriguing concept of Santa Claus receiving affection from Mrs. Claus. It was hinted that Charlize Theron could be a contender due to her close association with 87North Productions, the production company funding “Violent Night”. Regarding speculation about Winona Ryder being involved, Casey and Miller were rather specific when responding to queries about her potential role: she may also be considered.
Winona hadn’t crossed my mind until now, though it’s important to note that discussing casting choices might not be appropriate. Regardless, I won’t speculate about her involvement in the film either way.
2022’s festive movie revolves around Santa Claus, who inadvertently finds himself in an unusual situation – driving under the influence while delivering gifts. Upon reaching a grand mansion, he witnesses a kidnapping. In an unexpected twist, Santa chooses to bring something other than joy and cheer to the house’s inhabitants for this Christmas. The movie has garnered a 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has swiftly gained popularity among enthusiasts of the Christmas horror genre, becoming a cult classic. According to the film’s synopsis:
On Christmas Eve, as a band of mercenaries invades a prosperous family estate, capturing all within, an unexpected adversary awaits them – it turns out that Old Saint Nick is present on the premises, and he’s ready to demonstrate that this Santa Claus isn’t your typical nice guy.
The Endless Possibilities of ‘Violent Night 2’
Surprisingly, even though the original story for the first movie was quite effective, it wouldn’t do justice to replicate it for Violent Night 2. That would be squandering an amazing character and a brilliant idea.
The authors appeared conscious of this point, and they discussed expanding the sequel further, keeping in mind the preferences of the audience from the initial movie.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but share my thoughts about the upcoming sequel. While it shares many of the core elements that made the first one so beloved, we’re also infusing it with a unique flavor. If you loved the action-packed feel of the original, get ready for more of that! However, instead of drawing heavily from action movies like before, we’re looking to Westerns for inspiration this time around. It won’t be a traditional Western, but you’ll definitely notice some Western story elements and themes woven into our narrative.
