As a gamer with a keen eye for talent and a soft spot for musical prodigies, I must say that Violet Grohl is one to watch out for. Her journey thus far, from performing at high-profile events alongside her iconic father to refining her skills at intimate venues like the Sun Rose, paints a picture of an artist who is not only incredibly committed but also determined to carve her own path in the music industry.
As I’ve been deeply engrossed in my creative endeavors, crafting tunes for a new album, I’ve got to tell you, folks, the feedback I’ve received so far is nothing short of amazing. It seems like everyone who’s heard a sneak peek absolutely loves it!
18-year-old daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who has joined her father on tours as a backup singer and showcased her solo talents, is reportedly extremely dedicated to the art of music creation and personal artistic development, according to a source. She has been perfecting tracks in a studio given to her by her dad for her birthday. One of her partners in this creative endeavor is producer Justin Raisen, who previously collaborated with Kim Gordon on her Grammy-nominated album “The Collective,” as well as with Charli XCX and Lil Yachty.
“She’s a true torch singer,” says one source. “Her vocals are tremendous. She’s very talented.”
As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of her debut album, rumored to have a wealth of material ready. However, it remains uncertain as to how, when, or with whom this will happen. One potential avenue could be through the Foo Fighters’ label, Roswell, distributed by RCA Records, a division of Sony Music.
Representatives for Grohl declined comment; Raisen did not respond to a request for comment.
12-year-old Violet Grohl, one of three children fathered by Dave Grohl outside of his marriage (as revealed earlier this year), made her on-stage debut singing Adele’s “When We Were Young” with her dad. She has since graced notable charity events such as The Art of Elysium in 2020 and the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala honoring Joni Mitchell in 2022, where her performance of “Help Me” was a standout moment among the star-studded evenings.
In 2021, a father-daughter duo shared a cover version of X’s “Nausea” song. Unfortunately, the Foo Fighters family experienced a heartbreaking event when their drummer, Taylor Hawkins, passed away in 2022. At a memorial concert for Hawkins at The Forum, she performed a moving rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” For a show in London, she also honored the memories of two other musicians who had passed away, Jeff Buckley and Amy Winehouse.
I’ve been honing my live chops at Sun Rose, a cozy spot on the iconic Sunset Strip linked with Pendry Hotel West Hollywood. Last year, I shared the stage with renowned pianist and David Bowie collaborator Mike Garson, performing “Man Who Sold the World,” a track made famous by my dad’s ex-band, Nirvana. Recently, I revisited that performance over two nights in February, leaving the crowd in awe of my gritty, empowered vocals and my courage in tackling classics from my father’s collection.
