As an ardent fan, I have followed Vivek Oberoi’s journey with bated breath, witnessing the highs and lows that mirror a thrilling roller-coaster ride. His recent revelations about the insecurities of the film industry resonate deeply with me, as they echo the struggles many artists face behind the glitz and glamour.
Vivek Oberoi’s Bollywood career has been a roller-coaster ride with its ups and downs. Lately, he revealed his fears about the movie business, reminiscing about a tough period when he was jobless for 14 to 15 months following Shootout At Lokhandwala. He also disclosed how the ongoing stress and strain made it seem less like a fulfilling journey and more like an exhausting battle.
During an interview with Indian Express, Vivek Oberoi shared some insights about his experiences in Bollywood, likening it to a volatile environment. He stated, “Despite working on around 67 projects over a span of 22 years, the film industry can be quite unpredictable. Regardless of giving strong performances, winning accolades, and fulfilling your responsibilities as an actor, you might still find yourself without work for other reasons.
Following my triumph in Shootout at Lokhandwala and the widespread popularity of Ganpat in 2007, I was showered with accolades. However, despite these achievements, I found myself without work for close to a year and a half. Reminiscing on this period, I admitted, “With my success in Shootout At Lokhandwala in 2007 and the viral sensation of Ganpat, I anticipated numerous job offers. Regrettably, I didn’t receive any. Instead, I found myself at home for about 14 to 15 months after the film’s success.
Additionally, he mentioned that this situation prompted a crucial choice he made in 2009 – opting to prioritize self-made wealth over dependence on the industry alone. He stressed the significance of maintaining control over his own destiny and professional choices, rather than being swayed by external factors.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Vivek Oberoi’s journey into entrepreneurship – a move that he described as the key to unlocking the freedom he yearned for all along. While film remains his undying passion, business served as his backup plan for sustenance. This strategic shift allowed him to break free from the shackles of Hollywood’s insecurities, escaping the relentless pressure of depending on powerful lobbies or sacrificing his values.
For him, maintaining his independence was crucial, as he couldn’t accept the idea of ‘selling his soul’ or pandering to others just to secure work. Vivek, with three films in the works, reflects on his 22-year Bollywood journey. He shares that the stress and tension he once felt were never worth it, emphasizing the importance of life’s karmic balance.
He expressed that he was overwhelmed with numerous worries, carrying a heavy burden, and in hindsight, it seemed unnecessary.” In his view, doing good acts leads to favorable outcomes, while negativity leads to its own repercussions. He points out that success might seem evident on the outside, but it doesn’t ensure inner contentment. Life is about making decisions, and selecting the appropriate ones can foster positive transformation. He opines that we tend to attribute our circumstances to fate when, in reality, our actions are what shape our journeys.
As a dedicated follower, I’m sharing an update: Vivek Oberoi, who has reached a stage where wealth, recognition, and triumph no longer seem transformative, is now channeling his energy into broadening his endeavors. In the cinematic sphere, he’s sealed deals for three upcoming projects. One of these is Masti 4, where I get to join forces with Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, and Induji, promising a rollercoaster of fun. This film, directed by Milap Zaveri, is slated for release in 2025. The details about the other two projects are yet to be unveiled, but Vivek Oberoi is brimming with excitement about them.
