As a lifelong fan of Wallace & Gromit, I can hardly contain my excitement for their new adventure, “Vengeance Most Fowl”! The return of Feathers McGraw has me reminiscing about the good old days when I first fell in love with these charming characters. It’s been a long time coming, but it seems that good things indeed come to those who wait.
Wallace and Gromit hinted at their upcoming big-screen appearance, revealing the trailer and release date for their latest venture titled “Revenge of the Feathered“, on Wednesday.
The directors, Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, are in charge of this new endeavor, which brings back the cunning chicken antagonist Feathers McGraw. After his appearance in the Academy Award-winning 1993 short film titled “The Wrong Trousers“, he’s now seeking revenge.
The upcoming Wallace & Gromit movie titled “Vengeance Most Fowl,” announced by BBC this summer, is set to make its world debut at AFI Fest on October 27th. Following a limited theater release in December, the film will be available globally on Netflix starting January 3rd.
In the recently released film, Gromit’s suspicion about Wallace growing overly reliant on his inventions turns out to be true when Wallace creates a “smart” garden gnome that appears to have a mind of its own. As it turns out, Feathers McGraw could be orchestrating things behind the scenes. With this revelation, it’s up to Gromit to fight against these sinister forces and rescue his master, otherwise Wallace might never invent again!
Fresh faces and familiar ones join the lineup, such as Ben Whitehead, British humorist Peter Kay, Lauren Patel, Reece Shearsmith, along with special appearances by Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh, and Sir Lenny Henry.
Park, the Oscar-winning Wallace & Gromit creator, previously said he’d had the idea for a movie about garden gnomes turning bad for more than a decade. “It occurred to me that the single most asked question I get when I meet fans is, will the penguin Feathers McGraw, Wallace and Gromit’s original antagonist from The Wrong Trousers 30 years ago, ever return? We’ve had fun bringing him back in cameo capacities but now, three decades on, it felt like the right time. Then it hit me: What if Feathers was involved with these gnomes?”
