As a fan with a soft spot for Walton Goggins and his captivating performances, I must say, this man has a knack for bringing life to every character he plays – even the hotel bills! His latest anecdote about the expensive “check-out” from The White Lotus resort had me rolling with laughter. It’s not often you hear about someone getting a bill shock over Thai spiced cashews and a $150 bottle of prosecco, but hey, that’s the life of a Hollywood star for you!
Walton Goggins is preparing for his next major part, having been nominated for an Emmy as The Ghoul in Fallout, by checking into The White Lotus for season 3. However, he discovered that a luxurious vacation like this doesn’t come without its costs in reality too.
On The Late Show, Goggins recently revealed that he had just come back from Thailand where he’d been filming the third season of The White Lotus for six months straight. Despite Stephen Colbert’s best attempts to extract some details about the upcoming HBO series, Goggins managed to keep any spoilers under wraps.
Goggins mentioned that he can’t disclose details about the character he portrays because he believes creator Mike White might react so strongly as to eliminate someone (us), but he did reveal an unexpected incident during filming the series instead.
As I checked into the luxurious White Lotus hotel, they didn’t mention upfront how costly it would be to leave this paradise behind, I later found out. Goggins explained that although the room itself was complimentary, being used both as a guest quarters and a filming location, there were additional costs for incidentals.
As a seasoned traveler with countless trips under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve encountered some unusual billing errors during my travels, but this particular incident takes the cake. Six weeks into my latest adventure, I found myself at a hotel in an unfamiliar city, eager to settle my bill and move on to my next destination. However, when I received the invoice, I was taken aback by its contents – it was so absurd that I could hardly believe my eyes.
After the hotel team verified that it was indeed his account, Goggins recalled asking in disbelief, “You’re telling me Thai spiced cashews cost that much?” Later, when Colbert inquired about how many cashews he had consumed to rack up such a high bill, Goggins confessed, “I thought I had around five. But they said, ‘No, you had thirty.'”
Apart from admitting his purchase, he also revealed he spent $150 on a bottle of prosecco. When Colbert jokingly questioned if that was a $150 photograph he was holding up, it turned out to be the actor showing off the expensive bottle by the ocean. Goggins replied, “It was quite enjoyable; it was truly an exceptional time.”
