As a die-hard Call of Duty fan who’s seen the rise and fall of many maps over the years, I must say, Treyarch’s debut of Area 99 has me more than just a little excited! The rumors have been swirling for ages, and now that we have a sneak peek, it seems like they’re really going to deliver.
As Black Ops Cold War merged with Warzone, many players perceived it as the start of an ending phase. The unusual blend of old and new gameplay elements left the gaming community feeling uneasy.
Treyarch returns with renewed promise, it seems, as the anticipation for its multiplayer and Zombies offerings in Warzone overshadows past issues encountered during the transition from Black Ops. It appears they’ve taken those mistakes to heart as lessons.
As Black Ops 6 approaches, Treyarch has unveiled their latest Warzone map called Area 99, marking it as their inaugural battle royale map since the release of Blackout.

The miniature version of the map, previously unseen, is now accessible to all, with the complete unveiling scheduled for the Call of Duty: Next presentation.
It’s often whispered that Area 99 is actually a Resurgence map instead of a complete Battle Royale terrain, implying that we might enjoy extended periods in the urban landscape of Urzikstan.
It appears that Verdansk has been designated as the battle royale map for Black Ops 6, however, there are indications that Raven Software, the team responsible for its recreation, is falling behind schedule. As a result, it seems likely that we might experience a delay until at least Season 2.
The newly revealed Area 99 is set to launch with Black Ops 6 Season 1.

Starting with the first static shot, it seems that Area 99 might be a tribute to Treyarch’s iconic game series, given that some elements appear strikingly similar to what players have noticed already.
Black Ops players might remember for firing through.
Regarding the remaining part of the map, it seems reminiscent of Rebirth Island, with structures scattered along the island’s edges and a larger building visible towards the interior.
On August 28th, during CoD: Next, we’ll unveil all about Area 99. Content creators collaborating with us will engage in a private match to showcase it.
