WATCH: Filmmaker Subhash Ghai feels 'blessed' as US swimming team performs AR Rahman's Taal Se Taal

As a lifelong enthusiast of Bollywood and a connoisseur of Subhash Ghai’s illustrious career, I must say this latest development has left me absolutely thrilled! The world has finally recognized the timeless magic that is AR Rahman’s music, and it all started with none other than Taal Se Taal. It brings a tear to my eye to see the USA’s artistic swimming team performing to the very same rhythm that once enchanted millions of hearts in India.

At the World Aquatics Doha 2024 competition, the U.S. women’s artistic swimming team showcased a rendition of the well-known “Taal Se Taal” for their underwater dance routine. Their performance from a month ago has been circulating on social media platforms extensively. Notably, Bollywood film director Subhash Ghai commented on it, recognizing that the music used was originally composed by AR Rahman for his 1999 movie, “Taal.”

In my dedication, I’m recounting an extraordinary moment: The USA’s women’s artistic swimming team gracefully synchronized their moves to the enchanting opening melody of “Taal Se Taal Mila.” As a token of my admiration, I captured this magnificent performance and shared it on X (formerly Twitter). Later, Subhash Ghai, in his heartfelt expression, echoed my joy, expressing his happiness too.

“It’s not common, but it does happen that a theme song from a Hindi film like ‘Taal’ becomes iconic.” (applause emoji)

The filmmaker expressed, “The performance was showcased at World Aquatics Doha 2024, which motivated the USA Artistic Swimming Team to present their extraordinary routine set to the music of TAAL. I am truly grateful… thank you all (heart and hug emojis).”

People who follow X also responded to the video in various ways. One person commented, “Taal Se Taal fits any cultural gathering… AR truly embodies the essence of Indian music.” Another user simply stated, “That’s awesome!” A different individual on X posted, “This is a moment we can all be proud of & it showcases the strength of Indian Music.”

Simultaneously, “Taal Se Taal Mila” was created by AR Rahman with lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi. This tune is beautifully rendered by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. In the film, it’s Aishwarya Rai who performs this song.

Recently, the filmmaker conveyed his warm blessings for the upcoming movie based on Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita Maa, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Yash as Raavan. The shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayana has commenced. Notably, Subhash Ghai, a seasoned director, expressed his appreciation for the team by posting an encouraging message on social media alongside a photo showcasing the title of the project.

‘At last, a producer in Mumbai has succeeded (praying hands emoji). Warm congratulations to Namit Malhotra for introducing a Hindi film of mega scale, #RAMAYAN, internationally. His sincere wish to portray the epic tale of Indian Hindu mythology to the world is truly impressive. (flower emoji)”

In his enthusiasm for the project, he wrote, “It will elevate our nation, India (#BHARAT), to the topmost position in global viewpoints.”
