As a seasoned anime enthusiast with roots deeply embedded in the ’90s Shonen Jump era, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming second season of Rurouni Kenshin! Having grown up with the original series, I’ve always held a special place in my heart for Himura Kenshin and his journey.
In the upcoming second season of Rurouni Kenshin, which will air in October and is known as “Rurouni Kenshin Meiji Swordsman Romanticism: Kyoto Chaos” or “Kyoto Uprising”, more fights are expected to take place.
As a devoted fan, I can share that the first captivating season was masterfully directed by Hideyo Yamamoto. However, as we eagerly anticipated the second installment, we were excited to learn that Yuki Komada took over the reins for the anime continuation. Notably, the talented composer Hideyuki Kurata, renowned for his work on the enchanting series “Made in Abyss”, graced our beloved show with his extraordinary musical talent.
“Rurouni Kenshin” is derived from a manga of the same title penned by Nobuhiro Watsuki. This manga initially appeared in “Weekly Shōnen Jump” during the ’90s. Previously, it was turned into an anime in 1996, but last year, Liden Films reimagined the series with a new perspective.
In the year 1878, during Japan’s Meiji period, we encounter Himura Kenshin – a former assassin who now roams as a rōnin, a solitary samurai. Despite his past, Kenshin has sworn to maintain peace and harmony without ever again taking another person’s life.
Take a peek at the official sneak peek for the second season of Rurouni Kenshin, available above. The series will air on Fuji TV starting in October.
