Watch The Hollywood Reporter’s Full, Uncensored Comedy Actor Roundtable

Gather six leading comedians for a conversation at a table, and it becomes progressively challenging to maintain one’s cool. This was the experience during The Hollywood Reporter’s recent Comedy Actor Emmy roundtable, which included Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Ted Danson (A Man on the Inside), John Mulaney (Everybody’s Live), Seth Rogen (The Studio), Jason Segel (Shrinking), and Julio Torres (Fantasmas).

Their lively discussion covered various aspects, from how they’ve been stereotyped – Seth Rogen as the sluggish stoner type, Aaron Brody as the self-assured nerd, and John Mulaney as the expressionless boy who moves swiftly – to roles they yearned for but didn’t get. (Fun fact: Aaron Brody really tried for the role in Blues Clues.) They also spoke sincerely about the toughest phases in their careers and shared intriguing stories about the most puzzling creative advice they’ve ever received.

The prince wouldn’t approve of that.” It’s hardly shocking that this remark prompted an immediate “Yuck” from most at the table.

During another moment in the hour, a few of the actors gathered were quietly yet amusingly questioning their past decisions, as Torres shared his lack of a credit card. He stated that it’s his dislike for being tied to systems he doesn’t agree with. “I choose whether or not I play a board game,” he said, “so why am I forced to have a credit score? By whom? You’re judging me based on my creditworthiness? That’s just not right.” Mulaney seemed taken aback by Torres’ reasoning, but he didn’t agree completely: “I found his argument that the credit score is a game he never agreed to quite intriguing. So, I was more like, can I adopt this mindset for my own life? But then, not immediately.
