Weasel Wasn't Back For Deadpool 3. T.J. Miller Opens Up About Why 'Things Kind Of Changed' Between Him And Ryan Reynolds

As a gamer who has lived through the rise and fall of many digital worlds, I can say with certainty that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most captivating and intriguing virtual realms I’ve ever encountered. The journey of Deadpool and Wolverine, two iconic characters from the Fox universe, joining forces with the Avengers was a long-awaited and exciting event for many fans like myself.

As a long-time Marvel fan, I’ve been eagerly following the Cinematic Universe for over a decade, anxiously awaiting the arrival of characters from Fox Studios into the fold. After Disney took over 20th Century Fox, it finally happened with Deadpool and Wolverine. However, Weasel was missing in action during Deadpool 3, and now T.J. Miller has spoken out about the shift in our relationship with Ryan Reynolds that led to his absence.

In the lineup for Deadpool 3, Miller’s character Weasel was conspicuously missing, even though he played a significant role in the first two movies. This omission led many to speculate that it was due to T.J. Miller’s off-screen controversies, as he has been largely absent from major Hollywood productions since then. During an appearance on The Adam Corolla Show, he discussed his rapport with Ryan Reynolds, stating:

In the first Deadpool film, I found it easier to connect with him as he wasn’t yet a highly established, A-list celebrity. Instead, he had experienced some setbacks in his acting career, with Green Lantern being one of his notable flops.

Here it is. For many years, Ryan Reynolds has maintained a steady career. However, the extraordinary success of the Deadpool series undeniably catapulted him into a new stratum. And Miller appears to believe that this was the turning point in his relationship with the actor, writer, and producer.

Although Miller refuted claims of misconduct on the set of “Silicon Valley” (available for streaming with a Max subscription), his career pace has slowed somewhat. In the same conversation, he spoke about his wife’s perspective and the success of Deadpool, expressing thoughts of wonder.

As a die-hard fan, it’s my take that Kay seems to harbor feelings of animosity towards me. To put it bluntly, he strikes me as more of a pretender friend than an actual one. It’s like his sudden fame after the first Deadpool movie went through the roof shifted something between us. I can’t help but think he was all, “Look at me now!” and then… well, I’m not entirely sure what happened next.

It’s not new that Miller has asserted that Ryan Reynolds dislikes him, and it’s evident there’s some intense emotions involved. The incident where he was removed from the Deadpool franchise might have intensified these feelings. However, it’s important to note that when the Deadpool franchise returned with Wolverine, most of the recurring characters were sidelined in favor of focusing on the relationship between those two characters and a multiversal journey.

It’s evident that Deadpool isn’t going anywhere, even without his co-star Weasel by his side. Considering the massive success of the third film, it’s likely that he and Wolverine will appear in future Marvel productions. We can only speculate about when or where they might reappear.
