As a gamer who grew up during the golden era of DVD rentals, I can’t help but feel nostalgic when it comes to Weber’s latest collaboration with “I Like Movies.” Being a part of that generation where the weekend was all about choosing a DVD from the local rental store and settling in for an evening of entertainment, this collection resonates deeply.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super pumped to share that I’ve got some exclusive news! Weber is teaming up with the talented Canadian director, Chandler Levack, for his first full-length movie, “I Like Movies.” This collaboration promises an extraordinary experience, and I can hardly wait to see it unfold on the big screen!
Revisiting the nostalgic feelings from the Y2K era, this collection pays homage to a simpler time in our lives. The design draws inspiration from the visual style presented in the 2022 film “I Like Movies”, a Canadian coming-of-age comedy-drama that takes place in 2003 – a period often referred to as the heyday of rental DVDs. This movie is celebrated as one of the finest Canadian comedies ever made, and as part of the collection’s launch, it will be screened at Shinjuku Cinema Qualite and various other theaters in Japan on December 27, coinciding with the capsule release date.
To pay tribute to the movie “I Like Movies”, fashion brand Weber – known for its cinematic enthusiasm – has designed an exclusive line of apparel. This collection is influenced by “I Like Movies” and includes Coach Jackets, T-shirts, and new Cap designs from Weber. The items showcase striking depictions of the film’s main character, Lawrence, as well as the title “I Like Movies“, presented in attention-grabbing prints and embroidery. Classic wardrobe essentials are also featured in a 2000s style fit, offering box-cut coach jackets and tees. The campaign visuals transport fans to the days of DVD rentals and bulky televisions, evoking the atmosphere of the Blockbuster era.
Starting from December 27th, you’ll be able to pre-order the collection from Weber’s online shop. This date marks the nationwide premiere of the movie in Japan.
