Weeds Star Mary-Louise Parker Demands Answers on Elsbeth’s Tote Bag Obsession in New Clip!

In the coming TV schedule of 2025, Elsbeth is set to reappear on CBS following a short hiatus, and viewers can look forward to another notable figure gracing our screens as a featured guest star. The versatile Mary-Louise Parker, best known for her roles in series spanning from political drama like “The West Wing” to dark comedies such as “Weeds”, has joined the cast. She’ll be portraying an expert in decluttering, making her an ideal fit to delve into the lead actress’s penchant for tote bags (and potentially a murder mystery as well). Take a look at the exclusive clip above for a sneak peek at their intriguing interaction!

In the episode titled “Hot Tub Crime Machine,” set to air on April 3 and streaming the next day with a Paramount+ subscription, Parker makes an appearance. The intriguing title hints at the location or manner of the week’s murder, not just a reference to the “Hot Tub Time Machine” film! In this episode, Freya, portrayed by Parker, mourns the suspicious death of her husband in a hot tub. According to CBS, Freya is a renowned decluttering expert whose minimalist philosophy and controlling nature seem at odds with her ‘throuple’ relationship. Given that Elsbeth is involved, it’s likely that Freya will be uncovered as the culprit of the week’s crime.

In the video, Elsbeth doesn’t physically remove every item from each of her bags, but she mentions that she prefers to keep her belongings with her and finds her bags light. Considering the items on the table and couch were likely taken from her bags, it seems she carries snacks, toys, a hat, a Mother’s Day card from Teddy, books, and what appears to be a pink yoga block. Moreover, there appears to be more items in the “QUANTITY” bin than the “QUALITY” bins, leading me to question if Carrie Preston will be carrying fewer bags on set in the future.

Paramount Plus is where you can find popular CBS TV shows like Elsbeth and original content from Paramount. With this subscription, you’ll also have access to live sports events such as NFL and UEFA. Choose between the Essential plan at $7.99 a month or upgrade to the Premium plan for an ad-free experience with double the catalog by adding Showtime for $12.99 a month. Or, save some money by choosing the annual plan, where you get 12 months for the price of 10. Check it out here: View Deal

As a fervent admirer, I must caution myself not to take Elsbeth’s actions at face value. It seems plausible that she might be feigning friendship with Mary-Louise Parker’s Freya for some hidden purpose. Time and again, her affable personality has allowed her to establish rapport with the dangerous before dismantling their schemes and incarcerating them. Even the tough Lieutenant Connor was won over by her optimistic spirit earlier in Season 2.

Regardless of the outcome, “Hot Tub Crime Machine” won’t be Mary-Louise Parker’s sole appearance in Season 2. The actress from “Fried Green Tomatoes” is among the notable guest stars making a comeback for the Season 2 finale. This list also features Stephen Moyer reappearing as Elsbeth’s initial murderer, Retta portraying matchmaker Margo Clarke, and Alyssa Milano as mafia princess Pupetta Del Ponte, to mention a few examples.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I must say there are quite a few more thrilling moments left until the grand finale. Don’t forget to catch CBS on Thursday, March 3 at 10 p.m. ET for an exciting new chapter titled “Hot Tub Crime Machine”, where Mary-Louise Parker makes her entrance into the captivating realm of Elsbeth. If you’d like to refresh your memory about earlier episodes, they’re now available on Paramount+!
