Wembley Stadium Gets an Olaolu Slawn Makeover

Summary

  • The Emirates FA Cup came together with London-based artist and designer Slawn to create bespoke, stadium-wide designs for the 2025 final match between Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
  • This marks the second collaboration between the Cup and the artist, following the artist’s trophy redesign in 2024.

The Emirates FA Cup selected Olaolu Slawn for what could be his most significant assignment yet. Previously, the London-born artist made a strong impression last season by crafting a unique trophy design that seamlessly blended his caricature-like figures with a refined, metallic sophistication. In 2025, the Cup invited him back for another creative endeavor, this time allowing him to showcase his talents directly on the stadium itself.

Slawn’s designs were evident during last Saturday’s game, ranging from the pre-match event and banner procession to the post-win champagne bottles. The designs were available in two color schemes – sky tones for Manchester City and deep reds and blues for Crystal Palace. Slawn’s striking line work and urban art style added intensity to England’s main football arena.

Following the success of his latest Nike partnership and the sold-out exhibition at Saatchi Yates last autumn, this young artist, aged 24, is rapidly making a name for himself. He’s not just cementing his role in contemporary art, but also establishing himself as a significant figure in sports, fashion, and culture at large.
