On a Saturday morning, a cannabis store and lounge located in West Hollywood, co-owned by Bill Maher and Woody Harrelson, was broken into by a group of five individuals. This fact has been verified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to The Hollywood Reporter.
Early on Saturday morning at around 4:30 A.M., the front window of The Woods, located at 8271 Santa Monica Blvd, was shattered, providing an entrance for five thieves. They proceeded to burglarize the popular weed dispensary and lounge, renowned for its celebrity clientele, before making a swift escape in a black sedan. Law enforcement arrived at the scene of the break-in, also known as a smash-and-grab incident, which occurred near upscale restaurants and shopping centers in West Hollywood.
A video clip of the break-in, shared on Instagram by a fellow cannabis shop owner named Elliot Lewis, depicts five individuals in hoodies, who appear to be stealing marijuana products and stuffing them into bags before making their getaway. Detective Olvera from the Major Crimes Unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that an investigation regarding this burglary is still active, as reported to THR on Wednesday.
She noted that, given the fact that the suspects were hidden from view, it will require some time to recognize them. This is because their concealment makes identification more challenging. Her team is collaborating with the Los Angeles Police Department in investigating a burglary at a marijuana dispensary located near The Woods, which occurred two days prior and was also owned by the same individuals.
In 2022, The Woods, a luxury boutique, was launched, offering an array of items such as smoking devices, flowers, edibles, and more. Michael Berman, CEO of Schoos Design, along with Jay Handal and Devon Wheeler, founders of the dispensary chain Erba, are among the partners of Wood’s high-profile duo, Harrelson and Maher.
The high-end marijuana store boasts a relaxation area within its backyard garden, offering cabana rentals named after unique spots such as the Treehouse, the Lookout, and the Koi Room.
