As a die-hard Farscape fan who’s spent countless hours immersed in its rich universe and enamored by the dynamic duo of John Crichton and Aeryn Sun, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of more stories from this beloved series. With over two decades having passed since Farscape first graced our screens, it’s tantalizing to imagine how these characters might have evolved, grown, and adapted in the intervening years.
25 years ago, the acclaimed science fiction TV series Farscape made its debut, a show now streaming on Peacock! To this day, it continues to be one of the most cherished sci-fi television productions. Featuring stunning creature effects, an intricate narrative universe, and a captivating space couple – astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) and alien Peacekeeper Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black), who find themselves stranded in a wormhole – it’s a world that its creators and stars haven’t ruled out revisiting in the future.
In a recent conversation with SYFY WIRE, series creator Rockne S. O’Bannon made it clear that if Farscape were to return to television, it would feature new stories rather than a reboot. He expressed that there could be an advantage in the long gap since the show first aired in 1999 on the Sci-Fi Channel, as this would allow the characters to grow and experience events over the past quarter-century.

Why Ben Browder likes the idea of exploring more Farscape
For his part, Browder has consistently expressed readiness to reprise his initial role in the revival of Farscape, should such an event occur. In an interview with GateWorld back in 2011, he gave a resounding “Absolutely!” when asked about returning as Crichton.
As a gamer, I’d jump at the chance to step back into John Crichton’s shoes again. But whether it actually happens or not, well, time will tell. truth be told, I’ve got a soft spot for old Crichton and I’m just as curious about where his journey takes him in the years ahead.
The closing statement, which describes reuniting with Crichton as a mature and experienced team member, aligns flawlessly with O’Bannon’s latest thoughts about how the Farscape narrative would progress if it resumes at any point in the future.
More recently, Browder reaffirmed the same fundamental concept, sharing with Game Rant earlier this year his interest not only in catching up with John and Aeryn, but also in exploring potential future descendants of the seemingly content and devoted space duo.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but wonder about where they are now and how their lives have evolved – it’s been 25 years since we first met, and nobody remains untouched by time. Our world has transformed dramatically, and I, as John Crichton, would be captivated to see the ripple effects of these changes in the universe of Farscape. Revisiting this role again would be a dream come true, and it would be fascinating to catch up with Crichton and Aeryn’s grown children. This opportunity was exceptional for me as an actor, and another chance to be part of the Farscape family would mean everything.
