Before stepping into the shoes of Frank the Plank, I, William H. Macy, had already carved out a significant career as a versatile character actor. My breakthrough moment came when I captivated audiences as the cunning yet cowardly Jerry Lundergaard in “Fargo.” Subsequent roles in “Ghosts of Mississippi,” “Boogie Nights,” “Pleasantville,” “Air Force One,” “Magnolia,” and “Mystery Men” followed suit. Jeremy Allen White

Prior to and during the series, he tackled a variety of roles typical for teenage actors, including roles in the “Law & Order” franchise and a part in the flop “Movie 43.” However, since then, his career has soared with two Emmy awards for his leading role in Hulu’s “The Bear.” Additionally, he has been praised for his acting skills in movies, particularly as the troubled wrestler Kerry Von Erich in “The Iron Claw.” Currently, White is working on another biopic, this time focusing on Bruce Springsteen, titled “Deliver Me from Nowhere.
Emma Kenney
Debbie Gallagher closely resembles her sister Fiona in terms of resilience and determination. Navigating life with boxing gloves on and welding equipment at hand, Debbie stuns the family by becoming a young mother and dating a questionable character, committing various unconventional social blunders. In comparison to her siblings, Debbie struggles most with overcoming her own obstacles, leading her to act impulsively at times. Beneath all the turmoil, Debbie is a devoted and compassionate sister who frequently goes beyond the call of duty.
Emma Kenney, the one throwing those punches, began portraying Debbie at just eleven years old. Prior to that date, her acting credits primarily consisted of child-oriented roles such as “Day Camp” and “Green Apples.” Once she concluded Debbie’s storyline, Kenney went on to play another defiant young character — Harris Conner-Healy in “The Conners,” which is set to conclude with its final season in 2025.
Cameron Monaghan
In the TV series “Shameless,” Ian Gallagher is the character who embarks on the most exhilarating life journey. As a devoted fan, I’d like to highlight that Cameron Monaghan was no stranger to the world of acting when he took on the role of Ian. Ethan Cutkosky
Among the Gallagher siblings, Carl, the second youngest, has an unusual fondness for weapons and explosives. This affection for mischief often borders on hooliganism, but it takes a court order to send him to military school. There, he excels, initially as a cadet, and later as a police officer upon his release. It’s only within the Gallagher family that one could transition from breaking safes to protecting them.
Initially, Ethan Cutkosky made a small, unrecognized appearance in “Fred Claus,” which led to his role as Carl. Following this, he showcased his talents on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “The Unborn.” Since “Shameless” ended, Cutkosky has expanded his horizons. In 2018, he introduced a clothing line called Khaotic Kollective, and in 2021, he embarked on a music journey with his debut single titled “Erase Me.” Although he’s ventured into other areas, he hasn’t left the acting scene behind. He has made guest appearances on “The Conners” and been featured in the movie “Alex/October.
Christian Isaiah

Christian Isaiah began his career in 2015, landing roles on shows like “Married” and “Teachers”, as well as numerous commercials. Currently, he is recognized primarily for his role as Liam, but he’s consistently expanding his portfolio by taking on new characters. He portrayed the young Tupac Shakur in “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.”, and more recently, he made an appearance on “All American: Homecoming”. Shanola Hampton
What happens if Veronica “V” Ball, who plays a significant role as the Gallagher family’s pillar of support and Fiona’s closest friend, isn’t around to help them? As the joint owner of The Alibi, a bar often frequented by Frank and the rest of the family, Veronica juggles her responsibilities towards her expanding family with Kev (Steve Howey), keeps their romance alive, raises their twins, and strives for more opportunities in life.
Shanola Hampton had previously worked with Howey prior to their collaboration on “Shameless”; they acted together in the WB sitcom “Reba.” This association eventually led them to become real-life best friends. Apart from “Shameless,” Hampton has been a regular cast member in shows like “Related” and appeared in six episodes of “Miami Medical.” Now, she leads her own thriller, “Found.” The second season of the NBC procedural, titled “Gabi Mosley: Crisis Management Specialist,” features Hampton as the head of a team that rescues overlooked kidnap victims. However, Gabi harbors a secret of her own – she’s keeping Hugh “Sir” Evans (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the man who abducted her as a child, captive in her own basement.
Steve Howey

Noel Fisher
Mickey Milkovich doesn’t fit the mold of a traditional romantic hero. Involved in gang violence and coming from an extensive family marked by abuse, he appears more likely to smash a bottle on someone’s head than to walk down the aisle. However, an unlikely romance blossoms between him and Ian Gallagher within this tumultuous setting, one that eventually allows them to escape their neighborhood – following a stint in prison together, of course.
Noel Fisher had a solid career behind him as a teen actor. He even had a role in the infamous “Freddy Got Fingered” and was Troy in “Max Keebler’s Big Move.” After appearing in the short-lived “You, Me and the Kids,” he took on his first major role as eldest son Cale Molloy in the early FX drama “The Riches.” Fisher briefly left Shameless for a couple of seasons before returning as a regular in the wake of Emmy Rossum’s departure. During that break, he played Ellison Mounts in History’s “Hatfields & McCoys” miniseries and Vladimir in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” He was seen in National Geographic Channel’s “The Long Walk Home” and played prison guard Dennis in “Castle Rock.”
Fisher, like many others from “Shameless,” has made an appearance on “The Conners.” He portrayed Ed Conner Jr. on the show three times. Since leaving “Shameless,” his only on-screen role has been Zack Miller in “The Calling.” However, Fisher has managed to keep a flourishing acting career by lending his voice to characters such as Toad in “X-Men: Evolution” and Michelangelo in the Michael Bay series of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” films.
Justin Chatwin
Throughout her journey on “Shameless,” Fiona Gallagher encounters several potential romantic interests, yet none vexes her quite like Jimmy Lishman or Steve Wilton. It appears that the man who seems destined to be Fiona’s fairytale prince consorts with deceit and infidelity instead.
Justin Chatwin appeared in a wide variety of shows and motion pictures before his three season-long run on “Shameless.” While he started out with small parts in syndicated shows, like the series version of “Traffic,” he made a name for himself in the 2005 remake of “War of the Worlds,” where he played Robbie, in addition to playing Matt in “Taking Lives” and Ben in “Middle of Nowhere.” Chatwin starred as Goku in the much-maligned live action adaptation “Dragon Ball Z: Evolution,” as well as taking on the role of teen idol Bobby Shore in the quirky independent film “Bang Bang Baby.”
Following his stint on “Shameless”, he moved to a series with a sci-fi twist, where he portrayed Jason for four episodes in “Orphan Black”. As a gaming enthusiast, let me share my perspective on the captivating character of Sheila Jackson from “Shameless”. Initially, I saw her as Lip’s girlfriend Karen’s mom. But things got complicated when she found herself caught in a romantic whirlwind with Frank Gallagher, which added fuel to her already troubled marriage with Eddie.
Though Sheila may not have extensive travel experience, Joan Cusack has a diverse acting background. She initially gained recognition through minor roles in movies like “My Bodyguard” and “Class.” However, she transitioned to more significant supporting parts in films such as “Working Girl,” “Married to the Mob,” and “My Blue Heaven.” The 1990s brought her considerable success, with appearances as Debbie Jellinsky in “Addams Family Values” and Emily in “In and Out.” She also worked alongside her brother John in numerous films, including “Grosse Point Blank.” In addition to her own sitcom, “What about Joan,” she has since been featured in “Popstar: Never Stop Stopping” as Tilly and portrayed Justice Strauss in Netflix’s adaptation of “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Furthermore, she lends her voice to the character Jessie across various installments of the “Toy Story” franchise.
Isidora Goreshter
Svetlana Yevgenivna is definitely a force of nature — though not necessarily a good one all the time — in the lives of Kev and V. Svetlana distinguishes herself among the flock of Russian sex workers being promoted by Mickey during Season 3. Thanks to the machinations of Mickey’s evil father, Terry (Dennis Cockrum), she and Mickey share a brief marriage which produces a child, Yevgeny. When that breaks up, she marries V to avoid deportation and get a green card. Though the complicated poly relationship seems to benefit everyone, Kev and V fail to trust Svetlana, and she divorces V and marries a new man, taking Yevgeny with her.
Since her departure from “Shameless”, Isidora Goreshter has been making a name for herself independently. Similar to Svetlana, she is a versatile actress, and her background as a ballet dancer gave her an edge in breaking into Hollywood. Initially, most of her roles centered around dancing, but she quickly landed parts in shows like “Two Broke Girls,” “Ben and Kate,” “Trouble,” and “Paranoia.” Following “Shameless”, she had guest appearances on “Grey’s Anatomy,” played Kat in Audience’s “Condor,” and featured in the television film “Red Bird Lane.
Emma Greenwell
Mickey’s identical sister, named Mandy, was first portrayed as a carefree, rebellious character. At the start, she was friends with Ian, even helping him hide his sexuality by pretending to be his girlfriend, not knowing about his romantic involvement with Mickey. However, Mandy’s more sinister side emerged when she developed feelings for Lip. Their relationship started off smoothly but took a turn for the worse when Lip became involved with Karen. The turbulent dynamic between Mandy and Karen led to Mandy accidentally running over Karen with her car, causing severe damage to Karen’s short-term memory. This incident effectively ended Mandy and Lip’s relationship.
Initially, Jane Levy portrayed Mandy during Season 1, but for most of the show’s run it was Emma Greenwell who stepped into that role. This led to a lively discussion among “Shameless” fans about which Mandy they preferred. However, this debate didn’t impact Greenwell’s career in any way.
