- A Pokémon multiplayer game was leaked as part of the most recent Gamefreak reveals
- Despite being scrubbed we know it was intended to be a multiplatform title
- That means we may’ve had our very first crossover between Nintendo Switch and mobile
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic excitement when it comes to the latest Gamefreak leaks. While the Pokémon multiplayer game that was allegedly in development for cross-platform play between Nintendo Switch and mobile has since been scrubbed from the internet, the tantalizing glimpses we’ve had have left an indelible mark on my gaming imagination.
It seems it’s high time we discuss the recent Gamefreak leaks. However, rest assured, we won’t delve into the intricate lore or other peculiarities. Instead, let’s focus on what we could (or might have) anticipated from the unannounced games that were displayed. For instance, there could be a possibility of a cross-platform Pokémon multiplayer game designed for release on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Unfortunately, many outlets reported on the initial revelations, but by the time we came across it a few hours later, the backing images and videos from the original poster Centro leaks had already been removed. However, what’s clear is that the game was rumored to be centered around riding Pokémon in a rodeo-like manner, and development on it reportedly started in 2019.
What’s the most interesting part here is that not only was it considered, but also in active development, especially considering the proposed cross-platform play between Nintendo Switch and mobile. Given that Nintendo seems to have been slowly upping the ante when it comes to their mobile presence, alongside Gamefreak, it wouldn’t surprise us if the upcoming Switch 2 could make this a more distinct possibility.
Gotta’ leak ’em all
It’s crucial to recall that when there’s a leak, a substantial amount of information is kept confidential for a significant reason – because it wasn’t meant or guaranteed to be shared publicly. Given that a sequel seems to suggest the cancellation of the game (potentially titled Rhodeo), as claimed by the original leaker, I wouldn’t expect an official announcement about this Pokémon game anytime soon.
Still, there are plenty of games from this iconic series that actually are currently available. So if you want to get started, why not check out our definitive ranking of all the currently available Pokémon games?
