In the Outlander novel, it’s not Jamie who perishes at sea as suggested by the ship’s records; instead, he was late for the ship’s departure and ended up boarding a different vessel, allowing him to eventually reunite with Claire.
What Happens to Claire After Jamie’s Death in ‘Outlander’?
This one is a rough one, that’s for sure. Above all, there is no denying that Jamie and Claire’s love has withstood the roughest storms and highest obstacles. Not even a roughly 200-year time difference and time traveling through a spooky stone circle could stop their profound love for one another. There is arguably not enough time nor words to explain which terrors the love of the best couple in Outlander surpassed, but it is safe to say that Outlander fans reached a point of safety, where nothing, truly nothing, could separate Claire and James Fraser.
Before Claire learned about Jamie’s supposed demise, she chose to aid a rebellion. Perhaps it was an error in judgment, but remember, Claire Bear has a heart of compassion, after all.
Remarkably, her meddling was uncovered, placing her in jeopardy of being executed for treason. The only viable solution? Marrying her to Lord John, leveraging his nobility as a shield. A third time might be the charm, or so it seems. If this marriage transpires, it would undoubtedly prove more challenging to accept than the fact that Outlander’s Jenny was recast. Naturally, neither Claire nor Lord John are enthusiastic about this alliance, but Lord John feels a sense of duty towards Claire, not only because he harbors feelings for Jamie, but also because he is aware of how deeply Jamie cherished her.
The chaos and suspense are undeniably genuine, and only episode 11 from Season 7 of Outlander, titled “A Hundredweight of Stones,” airing on December 6 on Starz, will unveil the path that Lord John and Claire will choose.
