When Anushka Sharma had THIS question for Priyanka Chopra after her ‘career-best’ performance in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Barfi

The movie Barfi!, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, is often praised as one of the best Hindi films ever produced. Many people, including critics, admired Priyanka’s portrayal of an autistic character named Jhilmil. In a past conversation, Anushka Sharma mentioned her wish to ask Priyanka about her exceptional performance in this film.

Although Priyanka Chopra’s role in Barfi! left everyone astounded, surprisingly, she didn’t receive any significant awards for it. In a previous interview on the Hot Ones show on YouTube, the actress expressed her gratitude towards fans who praised her performance in the 2012 film, expressing that their compliments moved her deeply.

In a different phraseology: She acknowledged that she didn’t receive any awards during that particular year, but what she truly valued was the appreciation she garnered instead. Later on, in 2014, Anushka Sharma graced Koffee With Karan as a guest, accompanied by Anurag Kashyap, to publicize their film, Bombay Velvet.

During the discussion, she was inquired whether she had any queries for Chopra. Instead of just asking questions, she commended Priyanka’s acting skills but also pointed out that her performance didn’t receive any award recognition.

She expressed that she wished to inquire if she felt let down because she didn’t receive an award for her role in Barfi!. She believed it was her most impressive performance and that she delivered exceptionally well in the movie, one of the finest performances by a female actor that she had ever witnessed throughout her years.

When Anurag Basu interrupted with a question about who took home the awards that particular year, The Sultan actress admitted she couldn’t recall and simply stated, “I can’t seem to remember.” It was then Karan Johar disclosed that Vidya Balan had garnered many of the accolades that year for her exceptional performance in Kahaani.

2012’s Barfi! depicted a charming love tale between characters Barfi, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, and Jhilmil, played by Priyanka Chopra. Notably, Saurabh Shukla, Ileana D’Cruz, Jisshu Sengupta, among others, took on significant roles in this film as well.

Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma later worked together in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I’m diving headfirst into a groundbreaking collaboration with SS Rajamouli for the upcoming film SSMB 29. This project brings together an exceptional cast including Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, and we anticipate its release in the sun-drenched season of 2026. On a personal note, Anushka Sharma is momentarily stepping away from the silver screen to devote her time and energy to her cherished family.
