Last year during the Boxing Day Test, Indian cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy achieved his first international century against Australia. Afterward, his parents were pictured posing alongside actress Anushka Sharma. More recently, the young athlete reminisced about trying to take a selfie with Virat Kohli some years back and how Anushka graciously made up for it with a touching gesture.
When conversing with Puma India, Nitish Kumar Reddy reminisced about attending the Naman Under-16 awards when he turned 16 years old. He confided that he longed to have a quality photograph taken with Virat Kohli, who was also in attendance at the event. However, his enthusiasm overcame him, and instead of waiting, he impulsively snapped a picture. The budding cricketer further recounted that he didn’t possess a photo of himself at the time, but Kohli sat directly behind him during the event.
Seizing the moment without missing a beat, I picked up my mother’s phone – she was with me at the time – and discreetly snapped a selfie from behind the scenes. At the same time, I didn’t want Virat to be aware that I was capturing this image.
Later on, I found myself yearning for a good photo with him, but he was engaged in conversation with an elderly woman, surrounded by bodyguards, during his peak hours when people generally keep their distance. At that point, Anushka Sharma noticed my persistence yet failure to get close. She approached me kindly and said, “Come, I’ll take a photo with you.” That was a memorable experience, as I hadn’t anticipated her offering a picture.
Since then, Reddy clarified that he’s kept quiet on the matter, neither discussing it with Virat nor Anushka. Interestingly, Nitish’s sister Tejaswi shared information about it with Anushka, even showing her the related photo.
During the Boxing Day Test last year, a photo circulated online showing Nitish with his relatives – his dad Mutyala and sister – alongside Anushka. Accompanying Anushka were her two children, Vamika and Akaay, at the event.
In the Indian Premier League, Nitish plays for SunRisers Hyderabad, whereas Virat captains Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Anushka has been staying away from films as of now to concentrate on her personal life.
