When Deepika Padukone signed up for Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas’ movie titled Spirit, it generated significant excitement among cinema enthusiasts. Lately, there have been rumors swirling on social media about the actress parting ways with this highly anticipated production. One of the alleged reasons is that she requested a remuneration of 40 crores INR to be involved in the project, which the producers reportedly couldn’t accommodate. Bringing to mind when she openly discussed walking away from another director because of disagreements concerning her acting compensation.
2019 saw Deepika Padukone expressing creative appreciation for a film, but ultimately turning it down due to a disagreement over her acting fee. During an interview with NDTV, she shared that the director was unwilling to pay her the amount she requested, as he had budgeted for the fees of the male actor instead.
She replied, “Well, alright then, it’s time to go, goodbye. I understand my capabilities, I value myself. I realize his movies aren’t performing as strongly as mine have been, and that fact just doesn’t add up.
In my own words, as a committed collaborator, I expressed that by the close of each day, it wasn’t easy for me to rest knowing I made an equal creative impact on the movie yet received unequal compensation. Put simply, I couldn’t accept that situation and ended my thoughts by saying, “I wasn’t comfortable with it.
In terms of work, Deepika Padukone recently appeared in Rohit Shetty’s movie “Singham Again,” where she shared screen time with many well-known Bollywood actors such as Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and others. Additionally, she starred in the Telugu film “Kalki 2898 AD” alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. A follow-up to this movie is planned for release in 2026.
