When is Freja Arriving to Overwatch 2?

Marvel Rivals seems to have been outshining Overwatch 2 in recent months due to their character reveals, but it appears that Blizzard is making an effort to close the gap.

Just recently, OW2 debuted Season 15, even though Freja isn’t accessible just yet, fans have already caught a glimpse of the upcoming character.

Freja Coming to Overwatch 2

At the start of Season 15, it was announced that Freja is a new hero who excels in inflicting damage, often positioning herself high above the fray to get a clear view of the combat happening beneath her. Here’s the official reveal video for you: [Video Link]

Jude Stacey, Senior Narrative Designer, notes that Freya is originally from Denmark, a place known for its chilly winters, and adds that its bounty hunters are just as frosty. Freya was once Overwatch’s most celebrated rescue team member, always ready to save lives. However, when Overwatch disbanded, she redirected her abilities towards a new mission—bounty hunting. Now, she tracks down any target for the appropriate fee.

In terms of mastery difficulty among heroes, it’s often mentioned that Freja will prove challenging. To excel with her, one must possess exceptional long-range aiming skills, not just that, but also a deep understanding of utilizing her mobility effectively and maintaining an advantageous position above the battlefield.

Freja’s Abilities

Essential tools in Freja’s gear include her crossbow and cloak. With her crossbow, she can engage in long-distance shooting with intermittent fires, while her cloak enables her to glide across the map and enjoy impressive flight time.

When it comes to close combat, her crossbow offers rapid successive shots, while longer ranges might inflict more damage, but this heavily relies on the user’s shooting precision.

In keeping with her role as a bounty hunter, Freja is equipped with a gadget known as a Bola, which functions as her ultimate weapon. This tool not only captures opponents as anticipated, but it also possesses an additional feature: it can entrap nearby enemies as well. Subsequently, an explosion occurs in the vicinity, affecting anyone close by.

Currently, Freja is being worked on and refined, which means her abilities might evolve before she officially joins Blizzard’s character lineup. On a different note, they’ve unveiled some preliminary artwork for a new character coming soon, named Aqua.

Aqua, Water-Wielder

So far, only concept artwork has been unveiled for the upcoming hero named Aqua. It’s been disclosed that this character is a Chinese water wielder, boasting one of the most distinct ability sets our team has ever created.

Although characters in the game can manipulate ice, none have yet mastered water skills specifically. This unique situation could grant Aqua powers that we’ve never seen before.

I hope he’s not just an Overwatch character inspired by Jeff the Land Shark from Marvel Rivals, but given the way Rivals has been incorporating abilities from Overwatch into their characters, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were borrowing ideas in reverse.

On Season 16, Freja makes her debut, set to start within the following three months. Now, gamers can enjoy Overwatch 2 across various platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, as well as personal computers.
