As an ardent admirer of both Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, I find their grace and resilience in the face of industry gossip truly inspiring. Their camaraderie, evident from their shared dance background to their subsequent film journeys, is a testament to the sisterhood that thrives in Bollywood.
Back then, it was common knowledge that Katrina Kaif stepped into Priyanka Chopra’s shoes for the movie Bharat. The Barfi actress had decided to leave the film to devote her attention to her marriage. This departure from the Salman Khan-led production sparked much conversation. Interestingly, a past account reveals that Kaif seemed untroubled by taking over Chopra’s role, considering it as trivial matter instead.
In an old interview, Katrina expressed her views about potentially replacing Priyanka in the movie ‘Bharat’. She stated, “I adore Priyanka; she is one of my closest friends. We both began our Kathak dance training and acting careers together, and I have always held a special affection for her. This predicament isn’t problematic. The real issue seems to be among Priyanka, me, and the director, as he was the one who cast us. We are all comfortable with the situation. It’s unfortunate that the media tends to magnify certain issues, which unfortunately attract unwanted attention. What truly matters is the film itself, given the effort and dedication that has been poured into it. The focus should be on the movie rather than the surrounding circumstances.
During a different conversation, Kaif shared that she wasn’t aware of who had been selected for the movie ‘Bharat’ before herself. She remembered that Ali Abbas had talked about the script and her character in ‘Bharat’ while they were working together on the film ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, alongside Salman Khan.
She also mentioned that each person has a unique viewpoint on matters, and given that she isn’t in every movie starring Khan, it wasn’t feasible for her to participate if Priyanka was chosen for the role. However, she had specific reasons for declining it. Moreover, taking part in Bharat felt like fate to her, and she was content that the opportunity found its way to her.
When the actress from “Merry Christmas” read through the script, she took a liking to it and considered it her most impressive role thus far. She pointed out that whether she was the initial or alternative pick didn’t matter to her, stressing instead that it had nothing to do with personal pride.
Simultaneously, regarding their professional endeavors, it appears that Kat (Katrina Kaif) and PeeCee (Priyanka Chopra) are planning to act together in Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film titled Jee Le Zara, alongside Alia Bhatt.
