As a longtime admirer of Bollywood, I must say that Priyanka Chopra’s journey in the industry is nothing short of inspiring. Her portrayal of Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani was a testament to her versatility as an actress, proving that even with less screen time, she could captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.
In 2015, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Bajirao Mastani featured both Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. Priyanka portrayed Peshwa Bajirao’s first wife, Kashibai, while Deepika took on the title role as his second wife, Mastani. Although she had fewer scenes, Priyanka demonstrated elegance in her performance. Do you recall when Priyanka left everyone spellbound when asked about her desire to play Mastani in the film? She once left everyone speechless by saying, “You ask for our life, we give you joy, but you have stolen our respect.”
At an award ceremony in 2016, when I was approached by reporters, I was questioned about whether I had urged Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cast Deepika Padukone as the female lead in Bajirao Mastani. In response, I hinted at my admiration for Kashibai’s role by stating that my home is always filled with flowers as a symbol of my appreciation for it.
The girl called “Desi” asked, “Did you catch that movie? What made me play Mastani? Wasn’t Kashi appealing to you? I suggest you take a peek at my house; it has transformed into a beautiful garden!”
In a previous conversation with Film Companion, Ranveer Singh (the main actor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani) disclosed that Priyanka Chopra shed tears on the film set. Ranveer explained that PeeCee considered leaving the movie after just three days of shooting because she found Bhansali’s unconventional directing style challenging and unprepared for it.
For the first time, the actor remembered seeing Priyanka acting unusually late in the day, and it was noted that she hadn’t taken a single shot until 9 p.m. It wasn’t until Day 3 that Priyanka considered leaving the set and returning home.
More recently, Priyanka departed from Mumbai airport on the 27th of August, having attended her brother Siddharth Chopra’s wedding celebrations in India. During this trip, she also showcased her Marathi production titled Paani. Before boarding her flight, she said goodbye to the city.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that on the professional side, I’ve recently completed filming for my upcoming Hollywood project, The Bluff, shot in America. Additionally, I have an action-comedy titled Head of State lined up, where I’ll be joining forces with John Cena, Idris Elba, and Jack Quaid.
