Sanjay Leela Bhansali made Rajeev Khandelwal wait for an unreleased film

Rajeev Khandelwal gained recognition as a well-known figure on Indian TV before entering Bollywood with the hit movie “Aamir” in 2008. This successful film brought him acclaim and even led Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cast him as the main actor in his upcoming production.

During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he shared that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had planned to have him in a film titled Chenab Gandhi. Unfortunately, this venture didn’t come to fruition. Rajeev further explained that Bhansali kept him on hold for nearly 9 months up to a year.)

Unfortunately, the film didn’t gain popularity and because of his contract, he was unable to work on other projects. However, right after that experience, I started working on Sach Ka Saamna, he explained. During this time, I wasn’t kept in the loop about the movie’s progress.

After being informed that the film would no longer be produced, Rajeev chose to let go and focus on new projects. When inquired about why the film with director Heeramandi never took off, Rajeev admitted he never received an explanation. However, director Vibhu Puri advised him to “move on,” confirming that the film was no longer in production.

The actor added that the film was a major production as multiple actors had been cast before him. Yet, the movie wasn’t greenlit until Sanjay Leela Bhansali (SLB) provided an explanation, keeping him in limbo during this time.

Rajeev Khandelwal gained recognition for his appearances on numerous hit TV shows including Kahiin To Hoga, Kya Hadsaa Kya, Haqeeqat, Left Right Left, Reporters, among others.
