The group divides into two main groups: one is backed by ParkerGenix and consists of Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), the skilled extraction expert Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali), and the paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey). The other group comprises the shipwrecked Delgado family, which includes Rueben (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), his daughters Teresa (Luna Blaise) and Bella (Audrina Miranda), and Teresa’s boyfriend, Xavier (David Iacono).
In the thrilling movie “Jurassic World Rebirth,” every character encountered danger from dinosaurs at some point. Remarkably, all of them managed to leave Ile Saint-Hubert alive – quite an achievement in the world of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World! Yet, director Gareth Edwards has hinted that one character was destined to perish by the movie’s end! We uncover the identity of this doomed individual and learn how they were miraculously spared, potentially allowing them another chance to tango with the dinosaurs.
Why Gareth Edwards saved this Jurassic World Rebirth character
Initially, Edward stated that Mahershala Ali’s character, Duncan Kincaid, intended to give up his own life to shield Zora, Henry, and the Delgado family from the danger posed by Distortus rex.
In the initial version of the movie, Edwards revealed that Duncan Kincaid, portrayed by Mahershala Ali, planned to die in order to protect Zora, Henry, and the Delgado family from the threat of Distortus rex.
Or simply: In the first draft of the film, Edwards disclosed that Mahershala Ali’s character Duncan Kincaid was prepared to lay down his life to save Zora, Henry, and the Delgado family from Distortus rex.
Edwards commented with hindsight, it turned out quite well, but it wasn’t part of the original plan. Essentially, the major decision was whether the character should live or die. We wanted to end the movie in a way that wasn’t too predictable and easy. Mahershala, upon reading the script, suggested the character should die, and I agreed. So, we decided he would pass away.
Edwards mentioned that screenwriter David Koepp designed the sequence to culminate in Kincaid’s demise, which was carried out exactly as written. Regarding the initial edit of the film, he stated, “He died in it, and that’s the version I presented to the studio.
Later on, the studio bosses requested him to film an alternate version of the scene where Kincaid survives, as a backup option.

In response, Edwards stated, “Initially, I thought, ‘No, I understand the mechanics here. If we fire one, we’ll be obligated to use it.’ However, the practical part of me realized that I would need to create a version where I reside, so I began contemplating the most elegant depiction of that moment.
He expressed that after initially trying to conceive of it, he found himself growing fond of this unanticipated shift in his feelings. Then, he exclaimed something like, “We should film it, and I need to make it as impactful as the scene where he perishes because this could be the movie.” Everyone jumped on board and gave their best efforts.
When Edwards assembled that alternate edit, he realized something profound: discerning moviegoers often intuitively sense when a character is on the verge of death in the next instant due to the way it’s been foreshadowed. “I believe this is because we had written it as if he was going to die,” said Edwards. “Every subtle hint subconsciously informed the audience that’s what was going to happen, making you think it with absolute certainty. And then, when it didn’t occur, it was a genuine shock since we followed all the typical signs suggesting he would die, such as saying his final words to Scarlett and the music playing, leading you to believe, ‘This is his death scene.’
Instead, he managed to make it through along with the rest of his surviving crew, and it was truly heartening to witness his safe departure aboard the rescue vessel.
Edwards initially had concerns that the audience might perceive his first public screening as a letdown, but the enthusiastic response and heartfelt reactions during the cinema showing left him teary-eyed, making him grateful for their feedback. He then exclaimed, “Thank goodness, we made the right call!
