star and Hollywood icon recalls not understanding her own jokes on Will & Grace.
During an interview, Posey candidly shared her experiences on the popular sitcom, reminiscing, “On Will & Grace, I’d say things and people would laugh, but I didn’t really get it.” When questioned by Lisa Kudrow from Friends regarding whether she truly didn’t find the humor, Posey explained, “I didn’t think it was funny. Essentially, my response was, ‘What’s so amusing?’
In her explanation, Posey talked about her character Dorleen from Will & Grace, mentioning, “I treat it with sincerity, but then I think to myself, ‘Oh, that was amusing,’ and they keep adding humor while I’m acting. This has been going on for a while for everyone else… Then, I’d be summoned, and I’d find myself saying hello to Megan Mullally… and Sean Hayes, just observing this whole different comedy routine, if you will.
Originally airing on NBC in 1998, the popular sitcom “Will & Grace” was co-created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. The show centers around Will Truman, a corporate lawyer, and his longtime friend Grace Adler, an interior designer, portrayed by Debra Messing. Grace serves as the straight counterpart to Will’s character, who is openly gay. Although some critics have pointed out that the series hasn’t always pushed against harmful stereotypes about queer individuals, it remains a significant part of television history. Throughout its 8-season run, “Will & Grace” produced a total of 192 episodes.

From its 2017 debut to its 2020 finale, spanning over three seasons and including a special episode titled “A Will & Grace-ful Goodbye,” marked the conclusion of the entire series.
Will & Grace is streaming on Hulu.
