WHIZ LIMITED SS25 Is Well-Equipped for the Weather

For the Spring/Summer season of 2025, WHIZ LIMITED is preparing for the uncertainties ahead. The erratic weather patterns are shaping the design philosophy this time around, and the brand led by Hiroaki Shimono is focusing on creative layering methods for its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, aptly named “THE FUTURE IS MINE.

Shimono’s designs aim to innovate the way we combine styles, offering a variety of patterns, textures, and vibrant color schemes across the line. However, Shimono remains committed to WHIZ LIMITED’s ethos, as evident on their website where they describe the collection as evoking a sense of nostalgia for long-time supporters of the brand.

In his blog post for WHIZ LIMITED, Shimono explained that he typically begins by creating something he wants to wear himself. This time, he had an ambiguous vision in mind, which he described as a blend of American casual, work, and elegance. As he delved deeper into the design process, he discovered that these elements morphed into a European ambiance, resembling a modern European hip-hop style or an urban workwear with a refined yet non-earthy feel. He believes this collection offers a striking contrast, not just due to its combination of functional and elegant materials but also because of the assortment of intricate and warm pieces it contains.

The forefront of the delivery showcases a series of jackets, among which stands out the weather-resistant TRANSPORT design, appearing on both a coat and matching pants. The jacket boasts a chest pocket and sleeve interiors made from coated ripstop fabric, with patchwork embellishing its pockets. A hoodie, also made of waterproof material, can be adjusted to resemble a standard hood or transformed into a mask for your nose by extending the flap inside the drawstring.

The structure of the TEK coat is quite similar, featuring a hard-wearing, matte yellow shell made from water-resistant nylon that feels more like cotton to the touch. Conversely, the GRID coat derives its design from a sukajan jacket, characterized by diamond quilted stitching. Yet, it borrows elements of both a biker and an outdoor jacket for its design. For instance, the cuffs resemble those on an outdoor jacket, while the hem has a ribbed texture similar to that found on a stadium jacket.
